AWA Midwest -- What's been happening??
Sep 5th, 2007, 7:56pm

Midwest Wrestling Catch UP.

Hey All,

Since Midwest Wrestling hasn’t been on the board for a little more then 3 months.

Here’s what’s been happening in the Midwest region.

The Midwest Heavyweight Title Scene

Champion Blackjack Mulligan as been warned several times by the championship committee.  To defend the title within the 30 days or he could face consequences of forfeiting the titles.

Mulligan as been focusing more in tag team action, with Blackjack Lanza trying to capture the Midwest Tag Team Titles, and he hasn’t fulfilled his duties as Midwest Heavyweight Champion.

August 28, on AWA Midwest Championship Wrestling’s TV Show, a member of the AWA Championship Committee appeared on TV and ordered Mulligan to defend the title or he would be strip of the title.   Mulligan stated that he’s the champion and he calls the shots, and he feels like defending the title today against anybody.

Mulligan proceeded in the ring and waited for his opponent and that man was

Pedro Morales.

This was a 2 out of 3 falls match up.

Mulligan won the first fall, thanks to the help of his manager Percival Pringle III, distracted Morales allowing Mulligan to hit him with a high knee to the back for the 3 count.

Fall # 2 was taken by Pedro Morales following a cross body block off the ropes.

Fall # 3 went back and forth and Mulligan was gaining the advantage as he prepared Morales for the Claw, but out of nowhere Morales rolled up Mulligan into a small package and held on for the 3 count.

Morales was the new Midwest Heavyweight Champion.   The TV Studio crowd was going crazy, as Mulligan began screaming and chasing the referee from the ring in anger.

On the Tag Team Scene.

The Midwest Tag Team Champions of Larry Hennig and Wilbur Snyder turn back the challenges of a new team called the Lumberjacks and continued their war with the Blackjacks.

Their war with the Blackjacks as been taking a more serious turn, and it's getting at a point where the Midwest area is not big enough for all 4 men.

A big tag team match was signed for September 3rd in Minneapolis.   The Midwest Tag Team Titles were on the line, and the loser of the fall must leave the Midwest area.

The match was furious with both teams fighting all over the ringside area.

When the smoke cleared, Mulligan's streak of bad luck continued, and he was pinned by Hennig following a double ax Hammer to the chest.

Mulligan must now leave the AWA Midwest.

Dick Steinborn continues to retain the TV title, but he's been facing a strong challenge from a youngster by the name of Dick Slater.  Slater as impressed the Midwest fans with his quick and clean scientific wrestling, which have had people dubbing the series of matches between Steinborn and Slater as possible classics.

You just can't beat the experience of Hennig and Snyder.

I am surprised to see Blackjack leaving AWA-Midwest.

I would be interested to seeing a Steinborn and Slater match myself.

Great re-cap. Looking forward to seeing Awa-Midwest back full time.

Good to have this group back with us. Pedro will make a good champion. Blackjack will be missed by me wish him the best. I like Slater on the move to big things. Good re-cap.
