International Wrestling @ Le Montreal Forum 9/3/77

AWA International Wrestling @ The Montreal Forum 9/3/77

~ Bout 1: “Dynamite” Jack Evans (w/Larry Sharpe) defeated a masked man by the name of the Green Hornet (dressed much like the television character) with the gordbuster in 5:00

~ Bout 2: In what many considered an upset, the brand new team of the UK’s “Cyanide” Sid Cooper and “Strongman” Alan Dennison defeated Chief War Eagle & Billy Two Rivers in 11:00 when Two Rivers was in trouble and was about to make the tag, War Eagle dropped from the apron and walked out on his partner, leaving it a 2 on 1. The Strongman, Dennison eventually finished Two Ricers off with the stump puller submission hold to gain the win.

~ Bout 3: In a mask vs. mask match The masked Mr. Pro defeated UFO after reversing an inside cradle in 8:00. Due to pre-match stipulations UFO had to unmask, but was reluctant and went to leave the ring. Mr. Pro caught UFO and tied him in the ropes/ Mr. Pro then removed UFO’s mask to reveal….a former main stay in Eastern Canada, Bob Della Serra! Della Serra broke free of the ropes and covered his shaved head as he ran towards the locker room in embarrassment. Mr. Pro then threw the UFO mask to the crowd as he was cheered!

~ Bout 4: International Tag Team Champions The Mercenaries (Frenchie Martin & Mad Dog Martel) defeated the Alaskan Bears in a wild bout when Martin pinned Mike York after a miscue with his brother Jay York in 18:00.

~ Bout 5: In a return bout from TV, “Quick Draw” Rick McGraw scored the biggest upset of his career thus far by defeating “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe (w/Jack Evans) when a man from the audience nixed interference from Jack Evans. This distracted Larry Sharpe long enough to allow Rick McGraw to dropkick Sharpe into the ropes and get a school boy for the pin. After the bout, the “fan” from the crowd removed his wig to show that it was none other than SERGE DUMONT! The same Serge Dumont that Evans & Sharpe thought they ended the career of some 2 – 3 months back! Dumont is back and looks in good shape. Sharpe looks as if he’s seen a ghost and heads to the back with Evans by his side.

~ Bout 6: Eric the Red & The Hangman (w/Major Duke) defeated Raymond & Jacques Rougeau Jr. when Eric the Red pinned the Quebec Heavyweight champion Raymond after a big splash in 21:00. After the match Hangman and Eric tried to take out Raymond & Jacques Jr., but the Rougeau’s intercepted Eric the Red’s bone that the Major threw into the ring and Raymond went wild, whacking anyone who got near him with the bone, thus clearing the ring of Duke’s army. Eric the Red was about to re-enter the ring when Major Duke blew the dog whistle to tame the wild beast and get Eric under control. The Army still got the win, and Eric the Red must certainly be in line for a title shot after pinning the Heavyweight champion.

~ Bout 7: In a knock down drag out brawl, Mad Dog Lefebvre (w/Jacques Rougeau Sr.) defeated “Canadian Lumberjack” Paul LeDuc (w/Major Duke George) in 12:00 after kicking out of a BEARHUG AVALANCHE and hitting his patented powerslam. Pre-match stipulations read if Lefebvre won his bout that Major Duke would have to get in the ring one on one with Jacques Sr.! That match is scheduled to follow.

After the contest, the Major realizes what this means and is visibly upset with the former Quebec Champion, Paul LeDuc, losing the contest. Duke begins lashing out at LeDuc, who is breathing hard in the corner. The Major then does the unthinkable and SLAPS the Canadian Lumberjack! LeDuc goes from breathing hard to the insane eyes of his brother Jos LeDuc! The Major becomes worried, and apologizes, slowly backing up at every step Paul takes toward him!

Paul LeDuc looks like he is about to clobber the Major when he tells him to turn around….The Major slowly turns around to find…JACQUES ROUGEAU Sr. in the ring! Jacques pounces on Duke to start the match, while Paul LeDuc quietly leaves the ring and ringside. Mad Dog Lefebvre stays out at ringside for the match, to cheer on Jacques Sr.

~ Bout 8: Jacques Rougeau Sr. defeated Major Duke George by count out in 3:00 when Jacques had beaten the Major senseless, and Duke was yanked from the ring by the Hangman and carried to the back. Mad Dog Lefebvre and the Rougeau Brothers join Jacques Sr. in the ring for a post match celebration!

Boy, it seems like the Major can't keep anybody happy. Now, LeDuc has felt his wrath.

I love this UK team here. War Eagle has a lot of 'splaining to do, Lucy.

I wondered where Dumont was. Seeing McGraw with the big win was icing on the cake.

Eric the Red against Raymond Rougeau will be a contrast of styles that will be quite entertaining.

Love the use of Mr. Pro here. Looking forward to seeing where it goes form here.

Great International card.

Thanks for the words fellas. I wanted to shake things up a little so I added some storylines that I recently came up with. With the draft coming up and some recent trades I made, expect to see a lot of new faces and a  new look for the Montreal area starting next week!  Smiley
