WWA Championship Wrestling
WRTV ch. 6 Studio
Indianapolis, IN
Filmed live and shown throughout Indiana 9/8 at noon and taped delayed in Ohio and Upstate New York.

Opening montage airs with Bill Conti's "Gonna fly now" playing in the background.

Camera pans the studio and settles on Bob Jenkins at the announce podium.

Jenkins:  Fans, welcome to another exciting hour of WWA Championship Wrestling.  Before we get started, I have a major announcement to make.
On September 4, The Love Brothers, Hartford and Reginald, defeated Crusher and Bruiser for the AWA World tag team titles!  The first big rematch will be tomorrow afternoon at Market Square Arena.  The match will be 2 out of 3 falls and held within a steel cage!  Also, the loser of the final fall will be banned from wrestling in the WWA!  Later, we'll have comments from Bruiser and Crusher right here on Championship Wrestling.
Fans, last week we told you that the WWA was looking for a new commissioner.  This week, a championship committee was formed to govern the WWA.  At this time, I'd like to introduce the five member panel to you.  First, our director of international affairs...Duke Keamuka.  Next, our directors of the tag team division...George and Sandy Scott.  Our director of the Junior Heavyweight division...Danny Hodge.  And our director of operations...The Fabulous Moolah!
Lady and gentlemen, welcome!

Keamuka:  Thank you.  As director of international affairs, my job is to bring in the best international stars from around the world.  My first act as the DIA is to announce that soon, WWA will be the home of the popular Mexican wrestler...Mil Mascaras!!!  I look forward to being able to bring in many more international stars.  Thank you.

G. Scott:  My brother and I are here to bring the best tag team wrestlers to the WWA tha twe possibly can.  We have talked to several teams already and it looks like we'll be seeing some of the best teams in the world in this area.  We would also like to announce that very shortly we will have a one night tournament to determine new WWA tag team champions.  Any team in the AWA who would like to participate in this great tournament should contact either Sandy or myself as soon as possible.  Thank you.

Hodge:  As most of you know, I am a former World Junior Heavyweight champion.  My goal is to establish the WWA as a hot-bed of Junior Heavyweights.  I, too, would like to announce that we will be having a tournament to crown the first WWA Jr. Heavyweight champion.  It is an open tournament to any AWA Jr. Heavyweight.  Anyone interested should contact me within the next week.

Moolah:  Darlin' I'm here to insure that the WWA  follows all mandates set forward by the AWA.  I am also in charge of the Heavyweight Championship and title shots at the AWA World Heavyweight Champion who is currently Nick Bockwinkel.  As a World champion for the past 20 years, I am more than qualified to be in charge of these things, sugar.
And I am more than tough enough to handle anyone who doesn't want to abide by our rules.  Now, due to our heavy personal schedules, we all can't be here all the time, so we have decided to appoint a commissioner.  We took a vote and this man was unanimously picked to be the new commissioner of the WWA.  He is from this promotional area and will fit well within the WWA.  Without further delay, I present to you, the new commissioner of the WWA, Les Thatcher!!!  Not only will Les be the commissioner, but he will be the third member of our broadcast team as well.  Thank you for your time, darlin'.

Jenkins:  Wow!!!  Fans, we'll be back with a few words from our new commissioner.

As we return, Jenkins is joined by Gene Okerlund and Commissioner Thatcher at the announce podium.

Jenkins:  Fans, welcome back and welcome to our new commissioner, Les Thatcher!

Thatcher:  Thanks, Bob.  Fans, as your new commissioner, I pledge to make WWA the most exciting wrestling organization nationally and internationally.  We at the WWA feel that you, the fans, deserve a championship match on television each week.  Therefore, I am preparing a tournament to crown our first Television Champion.  The Television Title will be defended exclusively on Championship Wrestling each week.  There will be a 15 minute time limit on all TV Title matches and the title can only change hands by pinfall or submission.  This tournament win begin next week.
Also, today's show is a special show as we will be previewing the card for tomorrow afternoon at Market Square Arena.  We will hear from many of the participants on tomorrow's card.  There will be no matches on today's card, but I know you'll enjoy the preview for tomorrow afternoon.  When we come back, Gene will begin our preview for the big card tomorrow.

Okerlund:  Fans, join us tomorrow for a huge afternoon of WWA Championship Wrestling at Market Square Arena beginning at 3:00.  Tickets are going fast, so make your plans to attend as soon as possible.

You will see:

Inside a 15 foot high steel cage for the AWA World Tag Team Titles
2 out of 3 falls

The Love Brothers (champions)  vs  Bruiser and Crusher
The loser of the deciding fall will be banned from the WWA!

Let's hear pre-taped comments from each team!

Reginald:  Well, Hartford, we finally did it!  We beat those two old coots for the AWA Titles and now we can eliminate them as a team tomorrow afternoon.  I can't wait to see the look on their faces when we destroy them in that cage.  It will be like...far out.  So, come on out all you cool cats and foxy mamas to see what LOVE can do in the ring!

Crusher:  Dem bums tink dey pulled the wool over our eyes.  Dey tink we're washed up.  Well, tomorrow afternoon, me and Dickie are gonna hurt 'em real good and take dem belts back. Dem rainbow fruits won't know what hit 'em!  How 'bout dat!

Okerlund:  You will also see:

For the AWA World Junior Heavyweight Title

Roddy Piper (Champion)  vs  Bill Dundee

Hear are a few words from both participants!

Piper:  Everybody's talkin' 'bout the big card in Indianapolis and I'm stuck fightin' Bill Dummy!  He ain't even fully grown yet.  He got short arms, he got short legs.  Well, Bubba, the only thing short on Roddy Piper is my temper!  Tomorrow I'm gonna do Dummy a favor.  I'm gonna stretch 'im 'til he's at least 4 feet tall.  This is gonna be easy for me.  I ain't gonna break a sweat.  So, come on out and see the last match of Dummy's career.  It's been your pleasure!

Dundee:  I know Piper's been running me down and that's just fine with me.  You see, he is underestimating me.  That gives me the advantage.  So Piper, bring some salt and pepper tomorrow, because you'll be eating your words!

Okerlund:  In the third main event, you'll see:

The Sheik  vs  Jerry "The King" Lawler---No Disqualification!

After this commercial, we'll here from Jerry Lawler!

Okerlund:  If that's not enough, fans you will see:

Kurt & Karl von Brauner  vs  Rocky Johnson & Don Muraco

Man, those officials were a blast from the past!

I think this may be the first time I know who a championship committee really is.

Any time Les Thatcher is involved I mark out. He was the fantastic host of Southeastern Championship Wrestling that I got in my dorm room at App State when I hung the rabbit ears out the window. 'Nuff Said.

A Junior heavyweight title, a TV title, Tag titles, and a heavyweight title. Things will be hopping in WWA!

The loser leaves the WWA stip in The tag match is interesting. Could Bruiser lose his WWA title if he loses the fall? I hope not.

I don't like Dundee. Go Piper!

I love Lawler as a face. I hope he comes through against The Sheik.

Johnson/ Muraco vs. The Von Brauners looks good.

Looking forward to seeing Powers in action.

The Indianapolis card on the 9th is why I am excited about this version of WWA!
