MATCH #7

The Sheik  vs  Jerry "The King" Lawler---No Disqualification

Lawler attacks Sheik during his pre-match ritual.  "The King" pummels Sheik with punches and bodyslams.  The Sheik pulls out his pencil, but is met with a punch to the jaw by Lawler with a chain wrapped around his fist.  Sheik flees to the outside and Lawler follows.  Sheik takes the advantage as he opens up Lawler with the ringside bell.  Sheik applies the camel clutch on the Arena floor.  "The King" struggles to free himself, but he is too weak.  The Sheik releases the hold and tosses Lawler's limp body back into the ring.  Sheik searches for his pencil and eventually finds it.  Lawler begins to stir, but is carved up by the tool of choice of Sheik.  The fans start to cheer loudly for Lawler and he struggles to his feet.  Sheik pounds the head of Lawler to no avail.  Sheik looks worried as the strap comes down.  Lawler rocks Sheik with several punches.  In desperation, Sheik prepares a fireball, but as he turns around, he is met with a fireball of his own!!!  Lawler gets the three count and the fans go wild!

WINNER:  JERRY "THE KING" LAWLER @16:44

MATCH #8

AWA World Jr. Heavyweight Championship

Roddy Piper  vs  "Superstar" Bill Dundee

Despite heated words in their promos, Piper and Dundee begin this match with scientific moves.  These two trade the advantage several times with Dundee looking incredible.  The Australian battler got several near-falls until Piper pulled Dundee's tights, sending him through the ropes and onto the floor.  Science is thrwn out the window as Piper nails Dundee with closed fist punches upon his re-entry.  Piper sets up for a piledriver, but Dundee backdrops him.  Dundee climbs to the top rope to deliver a knee-drop.  Just as Dundee leaps, Piper rolls out of the way.  He pulls Dundee up and hits a swinging neckbreaker.  Piper covers Dundee for the three count.  After the match, Piper grabs the house mic and tells the fans that he is the greatest Jr. Heavyweight champion of all time.  He brags that there is not a Jr. Heavyweight in the world who could beat him...past, present, or future!  At this point, Danny Hodge leaves his seat and enters the ring.  Hodge says that he'd like to shake the hand of such a great champion.  Piper smiles and extends his hand.  Hodge squeezes and brings Piper to his knees.  Hodge releases the grip and Piper scurries to the dressing room.  Hodge tells the fans "If only I were younger!"  Hodge returns to his seat to a rousing ovation.

WINNER:  RODDY PIPER @38:11

INTERMISSION #2 to set up the cage

MATCH #9

AWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE
CAGE MATCH
LOSER OF THE DECIDING FALL BANNED FROM THE WWA

Reginald & Hartford Love (Champions)  vs  Crusher & Bruiser

FALL #1

Crusher & Bruiser attack the champions as they enter the cage.  Crusher hits Reginald with a bolo punch as Bruiser has Hartford tied up in a bearhug.  Crusher pins Reginald in only :23 of the first fall.

FALL #2

The champions are recovered and protest the pin.  The referee refuses to listen and starts the second fall.  In the second fall, the champions focus on beating down the Bruiser.  Keeping Bruiser tied up in their half of the ring, The Love's show everyone why they are the tag champs.  Quick tags and double-teaming has Bruiser near defeat.  In a last ditch effort to escape the clutches of the Love's, Bruiser cracks the heads of the Brothers together and crawls to his corner to make the tag.  After the tag, Bruiser collapses in the corner.  Crusher rattles the champions with punches and kicks and prepares to finish them off.  Bruiser staggers to his feet and enters the fray.  The referee makes Bruiser and Hartford go back to their corners.  Reginald hits a low blow on Crusher that sends him to his corner where Bruiser tags himself in.  Big mistake!  Bruiser is in no condition to hold off both Loves and is pinned @32:46 of the second fall following a backbreaker.

FALL #3

The Love Brothers pick up where they left off in the second fall as Reginald hammers Bruiser with a barrage of semi-legal tactics.  Crusher is desperate to make the tag.  Bruiser kicks Reginald as he prepares for a backdrop.  Slowly, Bruiser crawls across the ring and tags Crusher.  Crusher cleans house and dominates the Loves with his own punches and kicks.  Both Loves fight back and Bruiser re-enters.  All four men battle furiously.  Hartford reaches into his tights and nails Crusher with a foreign object just as Bruiser catches Reginald with the stomach claw.  Reginald and Crusher's shoulders are both on the mat as the referee counts three.  The referee retrieves the belts and hands them to...
The Love Brothers.  The referee says that Crusher and Hartford were the legal men in the ring.  The Loves retain their titles @14:55 of the third and deciding fall.  Crusher lost the fall and now must leave the WWA!!!  The fans sit in disbelief as Bruiser and Crusher leave dejected.

WINNERS:  THE LOVE BROTHERS @48:04 (Total Time)

A controversial pin by the Love Brothers and Crusher is gone fron the WWA. Can't wait to see where this goes from here.

Piper beating Dundee made me happy. Seeing Hodge and his famous grip was priceless.

Lawler uses a chain and his own fireball. One of the most intersting and competitive matches involving The Sheik I have read.

Powers and Muraco/ Johnson with good wins.

First match I have seen with Ellis. Nice win by Mansfield.

Good win by the Arizona alums, The Lumberjacks. Harris getting the pin was unexpected.

The little things made this WWA card tops in my book. Having the Board there was one of them.

Good job.

Orton v/s Lightfoot was a great match to start off the show. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout.

I'm generally not a fan of Lawler's but I really enjoyed this match v/s the Sheik.

Dundee v/s RP exceeded expectations.

Thanks guys.  I really have to thank slickric, bobbyryates, & midwest dream for making this card special, to me if no one else.  WWA is going through changes that I hope will be pleasing to the readers of this board.  Lots of new faces.  Again, thanks for the feedback.  Mike.

glad to see mansfield still getting some wins...
muraco-johnson had a good team to beat.
while not a fan of either one, you can't knock a match between shiek and lawler in '77. i bet it woulda caused a riot..
