Guess Who???? Mid South Wrestling Recap

Mid South Wrestling Recap.......

What has happened to Bob Roop?

The biggest story occurring in the Mid South over the past several months is the change in Bob Roop.  As everyone knows, Roop entered the Mid South, as one of the top free agent acquisitions ever- and in no time lived up to the hype by winning both the Louisiana Title and a share of the Mid South Tag Titles.

We began seeing a change in Roop when he became a player in the NWA World Title picture.  Roop not only began double crossing his supposed friends, he no showed many of his tag title defenses, eventually causing his partner, and friend, Cowboy Bill Watts to relinquish the belts to the Ortons.

Although Bob Roop was never able to capture the NWA World Title, he did defeat Killer Karl Kox in a controversial match to win the North American Heavyweight Championship.  Bob Roop has agreed to meet Kox in a return match, however the stipulation calls for Cox to leave the area if he cannot defeat Roop for the title.

Bob Roop has lived up to his hype, by capturing just about every title in the Mid South.  However, he has done so at the expense of his friends.

North American Champion – Bob Roop
Roop was able to “steal” the belt away from Killer Karl Kox.  However, Roop now goes from the hunter to the hunted.  Former champion Killer Karl Kox is in line for a rematch, and cannot wait to get his hands on Roop again.  Also “waiting in the wings” is Roop’s former partner and friend, Cowboy Bill Watts, who cannot wait to get a piece of Roop.

Louisiana Title – Vacant
Bob Roop was ordered to vacate the Louisiana Title after winning the North American Title.  A one night tournament will be held soon to crown a new champion.

Mississippi Title – Jerry Stubbs
Jerry Stubbs has held on to the Mississippi title for several months, fending off several worthy opponents such as, Bob Orton Jr., Quasimodo, and Luke Williams.  Currently, Ken Mantell has been breathing down the neck of Stubbs, trying to wrestle the championship away.

Current Singles Ranking
1.  Bob Roop – North American Champion
2.  Killer Karl Kox - #1 Contender for the North American Title
3.  Jerry Stubbs – Mississippi Champion
4.  Ken Mantell - #1 Contender for the Mississippi Title
5.  Cowboy Bill Watts
6.  Strong Kobayashi
7.  Mike George
8.  Junkyard Dog
9.  Bob Orton Jr.
10. Don Diamond

Mid South Tag Team Titles – Bob Orton Jr. & Bob Orton Sr.
The Orton’s were able to take advantage of Bob Roop’s betrayal of Cowboy Bill Watts and win the titles.  But The Big Cowboy and his new partner JYD are primed and ready to face the Orton’s for Tag team gold.

While the action is hot across the board, no segment is more competitive than the tag team scene.  Here is the current rankings for the tag belts.

Champions – Bob Orton Jr. & Sr.
1. Cowboy Bill Watts & Junkyard Dog
2. Chief Thundercloud & Johnny War Eagle
3. The Sheepherders
4. The Kentuckians
5. Frank Dusek & Steven Little Bear

Stars on the Rise

Junkyard Dog
Since coming onto the scene, no one has doubted his strength and power.  However, his heart and courage is what has won over the legion of Mid South fans.  When Bob Roop left Cowboy Bill Watts standing alone, JYD came to his aid and sacrificed his body on more than one occasion to help the big cowboy.

With the fans behind him, JYD is sure to capture wrestling gold in the near future.

Bob Orton Jr.
This crafty 2nd generation star is another star on the rise.  He’s a technician in the ring, that can do it all.  Unfortunately, Orton Jr. would rather take short cuts than wrestle scientifically.  But don’t let his rule breaking fool you, Orton Jr. can match wrestling holds with the best of them.

Don Diamond
This young fan favorite is a big hit with the crowd and can really wrestle.  Look for big things in the future for Don Diamond.

I'm very happy to see Mid-South back.  I was going into withdrawal there, I needed some new stuff from MSW!   Smiley

I figured this change in Roop would come eventually, it seemed like he was just biding his time.  I'd like to see him and Watts face off, that could be a lot of fun!

Look big daddy, it's regular daddy.

El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

I love this side of Bob Roop. He was always more interesting on promos this way.

The Ortons will be good to follow as they defend the belts.

JYD will make it tough on all the champions.

Stubbs as Miss. champ is just what I was hoping was still going to happen.

Welcome back.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience!
