WORLD WRESTLING COUNCIL
LUIS T. DIAZ COLISEUM
AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO
SEPTEMBER 18, 1977 7 PM
REFEREE: TOMAS MARIN

All matches are sanctioned and governed by the National Wrestling Alliance.

--Puerto Rican national anthem

Match 1-

VICTOR JOVICA/ PEDRO EL GRANDE defeat ZOLTAN THE GREAT/ BOB GRIFFIN when Jovica hits a swinging neck breaker after an atomic drop.

Time: 12:28

Match 2-

TOSH TOGO defeats GEORGE GAISER.

A competitive match that comes down to a mistake by Gaiser. He tries for one too many football tackles while Togo is slumped in the corner. He hits his shoulder and the Japanese star goes for the abdominal claw. Gaiser submits quickly.

Time: 14:29

Match 3-

GIL HAYES defeats ERICH FROELICH.

Hayes is all business during the match. Both wrestlers score heavily with feet and fists. Hayes takes a cheap shot when he stomps hard on the bare feet of Froelich. Froelich gets angry and Hayes executes a belly-to-belly suplex for the win. Hayes takes a lady from the crowd and walks to the back with her.

Time: 15:39

Match 4-

KING TONGA defeats INVADER III.

Invader III takes Tonga to the mat early in the match with a chop block. Invader drops Tonga crotch first over the top rope. The crowd is almost rioting, throwing empty and full beverage cups into the ring. The ring announcer cautions that anyone caught throwing cups in the ring will be escorted out.

When order is restored, Invader III continues to work on Tonga’s right knee. In a feat of almost Herculean strength, Invader III takes advantage of Tonga not being able to support himself and almost hits a Northern Lights suplex. Tonga manages to shift his weight and come down hard on the masked man. Tonga pulls himself up with the ropes and manages to throw a modified Savate kick for the pin.

Time: 20:49

Match 5-

CARLOS COLON defeats EL DIABLO MASCARAS w/ MARK MANSON

Mascaras and Manson come to the ring thinking they will be wrestling Dominic DeNucci, who Manson pearl harbored this past weekend on WWC TV. The crowd roars with approval when Carlos Colon walks down the aisle. Colon says he asked DeNucci to help him watch out for Manson while he had WWWF commitments. Those commitments are done now. He will start his crusade against The Manson Mafia, starting with Mascaras tonight.

Manson and Diablo Mascaras waste no time. They use every rope to rub Colon’s face raw. Manson passes a plastic fork to his masked charge. After turning Colon’s right shoulder crimson, Colon resorts to a desperation flying head butt. It finds its target and is effective.

Colon goes for Diablo Mascaras’s right knee. Mascaras continues to work on the bloody right shoulder. Manson distracts Marin as Mascaras goes for a camel clutch. Manson poses for the crowd, giving them a demonic stare. He does not see Colon hit a low head butt and slap on the figure four. Mascaras gives up before Manson can break the hold.

Time: 23:00.

Match 6-

PUERTO RICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
HERCULES AYALA defeats ROCK RIDDLE w/ GIL HAYES

The constant interference by Hayes in this match infuriates Ayala. When Hayes is not taking cheap shots, Riddle works on Ayala’s arm and shoulder. Both men redden the other’s chest with vicious chops. Ayala takes advantage of Riddle missing a corner splash and drives his back into the turnbuckles.

Both men have prolonged advantages until a late mistake by Hayes costs Riddle the match. Hayes pulls Marin over to him while he is on the ring apron. He tries to throw Riddle the bell hammer. Ayala catches it in mid air and clobbers Riddle with it. Ayala slides it off the mat to the floor. Riddle is pinned.

Time: 26:50

Match 7-

WWC NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
THE SAMOAN KINGS w/ MARK MANSON wrestle VICTOR RIVERA/ DEAN HO to a DOUBLE COUNT OUT.

Mark Manson was supposed to be handcuffed to Dominic DeNucci for this match. Carlos Colon takes DeNucci’s place in this spot, also. Manson tries to physically intimidate Colon. Colon rakes the cuffs across Manson’s forehead. Manson takes his seat next to Colon, who does likewise.

The stip with Colon serves its purpose for most of the match. Rivera and Ho are able to use their experience to isolate High Chief Afi in their corner. They pound on the less experienced title holder, leaving him unsteady on his feet. A high knee lift on Rivera allows the tag to King Curtis.

Curtis takes the battle against Rivera and Ho to the floor. While Afi occupies Marin at different times in the match, Curtis uses objects like boards and cables at ringside to do his dirty work. Colon pulls Manson down at every turn.

Eventually, Rivera hits a cannonball drop on Afi. He is about to go in for the cover, when Curtis pulls Marin out of the ring. Both teams end up on the floor, getting counted out. Mascaras comes out with bolt cutters and frees Manson after hitting Colon with them. The foursome leaves Rivera, Ho, and Colon bloody.

Carlos Colon and King Tonga are really looking great here in WWC. It won't be long before Colon is the King of the Caribbean and Tonga won't be far behind. Besides these two, there's great action in every match on this show. If I lived in PR, I'd be attending every card I could.

I like the Samoan Kings. I like Zoltan. I met him at a show a few years ago. Ayala is great. With all that, all is right with the world when Carlos Colon is on the island. Great work.

-Tonga is on the move
-The Samoan Kings look to be too good for a double DQ but you have to do what you can in the ring to keep the belts
