AWA International Wrestling Recap for Early Sept.
Sep 24th, 2007, 1:43pm

Since the AWA International Wrestling TV episode for 9/8/77 was to be a recap show of the huge Montreal Forum card that was held on 9/3/77 I will basically use this post to cover all the happenings and the fall out of the big 9/3/77 Forum show.

It's been a few weeks so I just want to remind everyone what's going on in the Montreal area of the AWA.

**** "Dynamite" Jack Evans (partner in crime of Larry Sharpe) got a very decisive win over new comer the Green Hornet.

Question: With Sharpe holding the TV title, what's next for the duo, will Evans go for Raymond Rougeau's Heavyweight title, or do they want the tag team gold?

**** A new tag team made their Forum debut. The duo from Great Britain consisted of "Cyanide" Sid Cooper & "Strongman" Alan Dennison. The team was paired with their manager "Sir" JR Foley and took on the popular Indian team of Chief War Eagle & Billy Two Rivers. It was known there had been problems in the camp of the Indians with War Eagle feeling Two Rivers wasn't living up to his half of the team. During this match as Two Rivers reached for a tag, his partner War Eagle dropped from the apron and left ringside, abandoning his partner and leaving him alone to fight the Brits. Needless to say, Two Rivers fought with all the heart he had but the British team was too much.

Question: What was War Eagle thinking leaving his partner, and what will Two Rivers have to say about it?
Question: Will the new British tag team continue their winning ways, or was this win only because War Eagle left his partner fighting a two on one battle?

**** In a preliminary Mask vs. Mask match, The Masked Mr. Pro was able to defeat and unmask UFO who turned out to be Bob Della Serra, a veteran of the Canadian wrestling scene.

Question: Will Della Serra want revenge or has Mr. Pro embarrassed the former "UFO" to the point of no return.

**** The Mercenaries successfully defended their International Tag Team Titles over the double tough team of The Alaskan Bears, Mike & Jay York.

Question: What teams lie ahead for the unstoppable champions?

**** In what is most possibly the biggest upset in International history, "Quick Draw" Rick McGraw defeated TV Champion "Pretty Boy" Larry Sharpe in a non-title contest with the help of the returning SERGE DUMONT!

Question: Will Serge finally extract some revenge on Sharpe & Jack Evans who tried to permanently end his career over two months ago?
Question: Will McGraw continue his winning ways or will Sharpe make him pay for this huge upset.

**** Major Duke George's team of Eric the Red & The Hangman were able to score a victory over the Rougeau Brothers when Eric the Red PINNED the Quebec Heavyweight Champion Raymond Rougeau.

Question: This obviously puts Eric the Red in line for a Title shot against Rougeau in the not so distant future. Can the champion avoid the vicious splash of the wild man or are the Rougeau families days numbered by the Major's Army?

**** Mad Dog Lefebvre was able to defeat "Canadian Lumberjack" Paul LeDuc in a wild brawl. After the match it seems Major Duke George turned on his man LeDuc by slapping him. Paul didn't take kindly to this and appeared to have quit the Major's army. Due to the pre-match stipulations, Major Duke now had to wrestle Jacques Rougeau Sr.

Question: What's next for the Canadian Lumberjack, will Paul LeDuc leave the Major's army after being humiliated by Duke, and if he does, what will he plan to do with his future?

**** After over SIX LONG MONTHS, Jacques Rougeau Sr. was finally able to get in the ring one on one with Major Duke George! Jacques pounded on the Major for 3 minutes before the Hangman was able to pull Duke from the ring and carry him to the back, giving Rougeau Senior a count out victory.

Question: Jacques Sr. seemed happy with the damage he did to the Major, but will he still want more revenge on Duke George?

I will be posting TV for the 15th later tonight and the 22nd tomorrow....

Catch September 29th's episode (taped the 26th) later this week when AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION NICK BOCKWINKEL will be here in preparation for his upcoming match at the Forum on October 1st.

I liked this re-cap. It brought the angles back to mind.

Looks the Major is having problems.

McGraw with a big win.

Dumont comes back with a vengence.

The Indians have issues. Looking forward to them dealing with it.

Great International action.

*very good show
*Is McGraw ready to seriously challenge the Pretty Boy for the title or was this just a fluke?
*The Mad Dog seems to be an unstoppable force. How long before he pursues the gold and destroys his former friends and "family" the Rougeau clan.
* I expect Ray Rougeau can use his quickness and agility to wear the lumbering Eric the Red down and retain his title. However Raymond would have some serious problems retaining against the Hangman or the Mad Dog.
*good to see Serge Dumond return to IW. If he and LeDuc were to team up they might just be strong enough to run the Pretty Boy and Major Duke George out of the area.
*With teams like the Mercenaries and Hickerson and Condrey competing in the AWA how did a couple of old men and a couple of hippies wind up with the World Tag-Team titles? C'mon now.
*The Brits were impressive here. Would you happen to know if they have any matches on Youtube?
