Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling Television Taping Re-Cap:
-Bob and David open the show talking about the U.S. Heavyweight Tournament and how it is shaping up to be a very memorable night. Out comes "Nature Boy" Ric Flair along with Lars, Gene and Ole Anderson. Flair is fired up about the tournament and says he will be wearing the title next week right here on television! He says he will do what ever it takes to win back what should be his! He says that now that all his cousins are here backing him up there is no way he can lose! Lars tells Bob it is great to be back here with family! He says that with Ole and Gene being tag champs and Ric hunting down the U.S. gold that he feels a little left out. He says not to worry though as he already has his eyes set on some gold.......and he will reveal which one right here next week! Ole says he and Gene are so happy to have all the family together and that nothing can stop Flair and the Andersons now!!!
-TV MATCH 1 "U.S. Heavyweight Championship Qualifier Match"- Newcomer Jay Youngblood defeats Terry Funk in a shocker after some "unseen" interference by Ric Flair @6:39
-TV MATCH 2 "U.S. Heavyweight Championship Qualifier Match"- Tully Blanchard defeats Bobby Duncum in a tough match after locking on the sleeper hold @6:09
-VTR is shown from Puerto Rico..........
The Infernos trap Dixon in their corner early in the match. Each time a different Inferno or Dykes tags in, they taunt Andre or Maynard. They come in and Atletico puts them out. This allows the heels to punish Dixon. A standing drop kick to the chin of Dykes allows Dixon to tag in Maynard.
Maynard and Andre double team Dykes while Andre keeps The Infernos at bay. The Infernos do have some success against Maynard but the crowd erupts when Andre is tagged in. Andre gives Inferno I a series of head butts and goes in for the pin.
Maynard has Dykes in a standing hammerlock while Dixon has Inferno II in a chicken. Both men are on the turf. From the other side of the ring, comes a huge man in a mask. He is being led to the ring by a man some of the ringsiders say is Rock Hunter. Atletico is caught by a foot as Dykes tries to struggle.
The large man hits Andre in the back of the head with a big boot. Andre is pinned by Inferno I. The big man, along with the Infernos, hurt Dixon and Maynard and leave all three laying the ring. Hunter takes the mike and announces the carnage is brought to you by The Mighty Mammoth.
-Bob is with the Masked Mammoth and Rock Hunter at ringside. Hunter says that he and his masked monster will travel all over the world if they have to, just to put an end to Andre the Giant! What you just saw there from Puerto Rico is just the beginning!
-TV MATCH 3- The Masked Mammoth w/Rock Hunter defeats Pete Sanchez, Frankie Williams and Joey Rossi after a big boot to all three men's heads and covering all three at the same time for the pinfall @4:23
-Bob and David are at the desk and announce that due to Angelo Mosca leaving the area abruptly there is now an open spot in the U.S. Title Tournament. So, we will fill the last spot right here today as Missouri Mauler will face Newcomer Steve Strong!
-TV MATCH 4 "U.S. Heavyweight Championship Qualifier Match"- Steve Strong defeats a very tough Missouri Mauler with the full nelson @7:02
-Bob now runs down the eight participants for the tournament: Ric Flair, Paul Jones, Mongolian Stomper, Steve Strong, Ricky Steamboat, Blackjack Mulligan, Tully Blanchard, and Jay Youngblood! This is shaping up to be a great night of action! Also, signed is Andre the Giant vs. The Masked Mammoth w/Rock Hunter and Ole and Gene Anderson will defend the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Titles against Charlie Cook and Ray Candy!
