Saturday Sep. 29th Mid South Wrestling Presents Superdome Extravaganza Louisiana Championship Tournament First Round Bob Orton Jr defeated Grizzly Smith in a slight upset Don Diamond continues his winning ways by defeating Bob Orton Sr. Junkyard Dog defeats Big Jim Duggan in a clash of big men Strong Kobayashi defeats Mike Sharpe in a hard hitting match Special Challenge Tag Match The Sheepherders defeat Steven Littlebear & Frank Dusek Frank Dusek spends much of the match on the ring apron with a “questionable” injury, and the Sheepherders over power the feisty Steven Littlebear for the win. Louisiana Championship Tournament Semifinals The Popular Junkyard Dog upsets Strong Kobayashi to advance to the finals Bob Orton Jr. avenges an earlier loss by his father to Don Diamond with a controversial pinfall to advance to the finals. Mississippi Heavyweight Championship Ken Mantell defeats Jerry Stubbs Ken Mantell escapes with win over Jerry Stubbs, using a handful of tights and the ring ropes for leverage. After the match Mantell vows that Stubbs will not get a return match and must go to the “back of the contender line.” ---------------------------------Intermission----------------------------------- --------- Louisiana Championship Title Match Bob Orton Jr. defeats JYD for the Louisiana Championship. Orton Jr. got the pinfall by tossing a powder-like substance in the eyes of JYD and scoring the pinfall. Mid South Tag Team Championship The Ortons defeat Cowboy Bill Watts & Junkyard Dog An ironic twist has both JYD and Bob Orton Jr. competing in this match after just competing in the Louisiana Title Championship. The match was delayed for several minutes, as medical personel saw to the eye injury sustained to JYD at the hands of Orton Jr. The Ortons protest that the match must begin, and it does. JYD shows why he has become so beloved to Mid South fans by fighting with his head and eye bandaged, and showing incredible courage despite his injury. Unfortunately, Bob Roop comes to the ring, and put the final nail in the friendship between himself and Bill Watts, as he aids the Ortons in the victory. North American Heavyweight Championship Bob Roop defeats Killer Karl Kox - Kox must leave the Mid South for 90 days A bloody and battered Bob Roop manages to escape with his North American Title still in his grasp, in a long and hard fought match. Bill Watts came down to ringside to cheer on Killer Karl Kox, but Roop still manages to prevail. After the match Watts gets in the face of Roop, who takes a wild swing at Watts, who then K.O.’s Roop in the middle of the ring. Watts holds the North American Championship Belt high in the air, to the crowd's approval, before draping the belt over the lifeless body of Roop. Watts and a dejected Kox embrace as they leave the ring together.
