WWA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING Mackey Arena West Lafayette, IN 9/27/77 Bell Time 7:00 MATCH #1 Wilhelm Ruska vs Tony Hernandez Ruska, the '72 Munich Olympics double gold medalist in judo, looks very impressive in his WWA debut. The native of Holland dominates the bout and wins with an armbar submission. Talk about a great Dane! WINNER: WILHELM RUSKA @3:47 MATCH #2 Dos Caras vs Johnny Kwango Fantastic Jr. Heavyweight match sees Kwango pull off the major upset, pinning Caras with a sunset flip. WINNER: JOHNNY KWANGO @9:54 MATCH #3 Bobby Colt vs Antonio Inoki Colt puts up a valiant fight, but the Japanese legend is too strong. Inoki wins with the octopus hold. WINNER: ANTONIO INOKI @7:17 MATCH #4 Killer Karl Krupp w/Gerhardt Kaiser vs Mr. Wrestling #2 Krupp attempts to intimidate 2, but the Georgia veteran is ready for battle. The action goes back and forth for a few minutes until Krupp gains the upper-hand with an undetected low-blow. Krupp captures 2 in a rear chinlock and 2 weakens. The fans must watch WTBS because they begin to chant "2,2,2." This revitalizes the masked man as he fights to his feet. 2 breaks free from the clutches of the evil German and assaults him with gut shots. 2 bodyslams Krupp and prepares him for the "million dollar knee-lift." Just then, Kaiser grabs 2's foot, distracting 2 long enough for Krupp to load his glove. One punch and 2 goes down like a ton of bricks. The German applies the claw and 2's shoulders are pinned to the mat. The referee counts three and signals for the bell. Just then, Luis Martinez comes to ringside to inform the referee of what happened. The referee re-starts the match. Krupp argues and 2 rolls him up for the pin!!! Mr. Wrestling 2 has handed Krupp his first loss in the WWA!!! WINNER: MR. WRESTLING 2 @13:22 INTERMISSION MATCH #5 The Von Brauners w/Gerhardt Kaiser vs Luis Martinez & Otto Wanz As Martinez & Wanz head to the ring, theyare attacked by the Von Brauners & Krupp. The Germans focus the attack on Wanz and leave him for dead. Kaiser grabs the house mic and informs Luis that he must either wrestle alone or forfeit the match. This prompts Mr. Wrestling 2 to offer to team with Martinez, but Kaiser says that the contract does not allow for substitutions. Reluctantly, the referee agrees and sends 2 back to the dressing room. Luis tells the ref that he came to wrestle and agrees to wrestle the Germans 2 on 1. Big mistake. Although he gets in several offensive moves, Luis is no match for the Germans. Instead of pinning Martinez, the Von Brauners seem intent on injuring him. Obviously, they want to weaken Martinez for his TV title tournament match against Krupp. The assault is brutal and Luis is dealt a brutal beating. In an effort to save his friend, 2 comes down and throws in the towel, giving the win to the Germans, but possibly saving Luis' chance for the TV title. As they walk to the back, Luis has a pronounced limp. WINNERS: THE VON BRAUNERS - By Stoppage @15:19 MATCH #6 Mil Mascaras vs Pak Song Nam w/Gen. George Cannon What a clash of styles as the high-flying Mexican legend battles the Korean giant. Nam gets the early advantage with chops and nerve holds. Mil realizes his only chance is to tire the big man out by running circles around him. The strategy works as Nam is soon tuckered out from chasing the masked great. Mil then goes on the offensive. Dropkicks and flying shoulder tackles set up the end of the match. With Nam stunned, Mil climbs the ropes and launches toward his rival. Nam can only watch as Mascaras hits a picture-perfect cross-bodyblock for the win. WINNER: MIL MASCARAS @24:59 MATCH #7 WWA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH Dick the Bruiser vs Kenji Shibuya w/Gen. George Cannon Once again, Bruiser enters the ring in obvious pain. Swelling and large bruises can be seen on the left shoulder and arm of the champion. Bruiser, however, has fire in his eyes as he has the chance to get revenge on the man who originally caused his arm injury. Bruiser also changes his strategy for this match. From the bell, he launches an offensive attack on the Asian warrior. Keeping the action near the ropes, Dick lands right-handed punch after punch. Shibuya is rocked. Next, Bruiser puts the boots to Kenji. Each blow weakens Shibuya. Eventually, shibuya lands a shot to the injured limb of the champion. Dick drops like he'd been shot. Shibuya applies a nervehold. Dick drapes a leg over the ropes. The Asian must break the hold. Chops and kicks to the arm has Bruiser in excruciating pain. Again, a nervehold. Again, Bruiser makes the ropes. Each time Shibuya goes for the kill, Bruiser reaches the ropes. Frustration takes over and Shibuya gets careless. As he drags Dick away from the ropes, he leaveshimself open for a head-butt. Staggered, Shibuya loses contact with the champion. Bruiser rises to his feet and peppers Shibuya with right hand after right hand until the Asian crashes to the canvas. Dick struggles his way to the top rope and delivers the winning blow, a kneedrop. Shibuya is pinned cleanly. Bruiser's strategy worked brilliantly, but how long can he continue to defend his title as a one-armed man? WINNER: DICK THE BRUISER @32:01
