The opening plays, accompanied by Herb Alpert’s
A Bandita. We see short clips of some of the stars that have appeared on Maple Leaf Wrestling over the years, like Whipper Billy Watson, Gene Kiniski, Bruno Sammartino, Johnny Valentine, The Sheik, Jack Brisco and many more.
We then join Lord Athol Layton standing behind a podium with the Maple Leaf Wrestling logo on it, behind him, the Maple Leaf Wrestling logo and a big red and green Maple Leaf.
Layton runs down the matches that will take place on today's program, including the feature bout, World Tag Team Champions The Love Brothers face Edouard Carpentier and Steve Bolus in a non-title tag team match.
Eddie Creatchman and
The Sheik join Layton on the set.
VTR - Haystack Calhoun attacking The Sheik last week, after Sheik refused to let go of the Camel Clutch on Nick DeCarlo. Creatchman says that Haystack Calhoun had no business attacking the Sheik last week, he shouldn’t have even been allowed out near ringside while the match was going on, as he’s obviously unstable, as we saw.
Layton says that The Sheik wouldn’t release the Camel Clutch, all Calhoun was trying to do was help Nick DeCarlo.
Creatchman responds by saying that what The Sheik does is none of Calhoun’s business, he had no right sticking his nose in their business, but now he’s going to pay dearly for it!

Following the match, Superstar refused to release the Cobra Clutch on Oates, which forced Morales charged the ring, and begin beating on Superstar, forcing Superstar to the outside. Morales turns his attention to Malenko in the corner, and never sees Superstar sneak back in the ring and apply the Cobra Clutch on Morales. The Superstar has Morales in big trouble, till Dino Bravo, Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell come flying from the dressing room to make the save.
Layton says that Morales will put the Midwest Title on the line against the masked man on October 11 at Maple Leaf Gardens.
---COMMERCIAL BREAK---
AWA World Heavyweight Champion
Nick Bockwinkel walks out and joins Layton on the set.
Layton says that back on September 20, Bockwinkel was involved in what he considers a candidate for match of the year, when he faced Canadian Champion The Crusader in an anything goes Texas Death Match. He says that since The Crusader failed to win the title, he will not get another shot at the title as long as Bockwinkel is Champion.
VTR – Final moments of the Bockwinkel vs Crusader Texas Death Match from September 20 at Maple Leaf Gardens, Bockwinkel uses Brass Knux to knock the Crusader out cold. Bockwinkel says that he has been coming out here for weeks, telling everyone that he was the better man and that the Crusader couldn’t beat him, but still people doubted him. He says that we just saw the proof, Nick Bockwinkel did exactly what he said he would, and that’s pin The Crusader, right in the middle of the ring! Now, he’s done with the Crusader and can move on to bigger and better things!
Layton says that speaking of which, a match has been signed for October 11, where Bockwinkel will put the title on the line against the former World Champion, Verne Gagne.
Bockwinkel says that the AWA keeps throwing these chumps at him, he wants to know when he’s going to get some real competition here? He says that Verne is washed up, he’s an old man. He says that after he beats Gagne, he’s not coming back to Toronto until they can find him some competition!
---COMMERCIAL BREAK---
MATCH #4 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit:

Greg Gagne walk in and join Layton on the set.
Layton says that on September 20, they went to a Draw with the Love Brothers for the World Tag Team titles. On October 11, they will get a rematch for the titles.
Brunzell says that they came close to winning the titles the last time, they had them within their grasp, this time, he’s confident that they’ll leave Maple Leaf Gardens as the new World Tag Team Champions!
Gagne says that he hopes all these great fans in Toronto and the surrounding area, will come out and support them on October 11. He says that with the support of these fans, he knows that they’ll be successful in becoming the World Tag Team Champions.
Layton wraps up the show. He talks briefly about next week's show, where we'll see Stan Stasiak, U.S. Champion the Sheik and Billy Red Lyons in action.
