Now allow me to introduce my co-host Jim Carlisle who will tell us more about today’s show. Jim Carlisle: Fred, I just want to say that it is a real pleasure to be here with you bringing the fans this great wrestling action. This past Monday night the fans in Macon saw a night of action and we will be looking at three of the matches that took place there. These will include “Mr. Action” Mike Jackson v/s the power house Silvano Sousa, One of the most popular tag-teams in the AWA today will be with us as Tommy “Wildfire” Rich and Ricky Fields take on the Vachon Bros., and in our Main Event we will see the Georgia Tag-Team Champions Mr. Wrestling 1 and 2 defend against the Red Raiders. But that’s not all. Fred Ward: That’s right we recognize that wrestling fans from all across the world are watching us on the Superstation and we want to use this opportunity to showcase talent from all over the American Wrestling Association. So we will not only be seeing the top stars of Georgia Championship Wrestling as we have already mentioned but we’ll be seeing Tito Santana v/s Dennis Stamp from SWCW, the Hollywood Blondes who look a bit different from when we saw them here in GCW taking on Genichiro Tenryu and Terry Gordy, Dos Caras will face the diabolical Killer Karl Krupp, the Noble Sheik, the United States Heavyweight Champion, will be in action against Nick DeCarlo and the World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel will be facing the challenge of one of the very best wrestler’s in the world today Gino Brito. Jim Carlisle: As you can see, fans, we have just a tremendous show on tap today so we encourage you to call your family, friends and neighbors and tell them to turn their TV’s to Superstation WTBS. Fred Ward: Before we get to all of that great action though I’d like to take a moment to introduce the new voice of Georgia Championship Wrestling, Charlie Platt. Charlie has joined Fred and Jim in the WRBL TV studio. Charlie, welcome to Georgia Championship Wrestling. Charlie Platt: Thank-you, Mr. Ward. Let me just say that being named the announcer for Georgia Championship Wrestling is truly a dream come true. I grew up watching wrestling right here on WRBL and to think I’m going to be a part of it is just overwhelming. Fred Ward: Charlie, you’ve done a great job prior to coming to coming to Georgia Championship Wrestling and I’m sure that you will do a great job for us here. Now let’s take you back to last Monday night in the Macon, Coliseum where Charlie and Ed Capral will be bringing you the call of the action. Charlie Platt and Ed Capral do commentary for the following matches. 1st Event of the Evening “Mr. Action” Mike Jackson v/s 300lb Silvano Sousa Jackson lives up to his name as he’s everywhere seemingly at once. This completely baffles the big man and allows Jackson to gain an advantage that he never relinquishes. Jackson nails Sousa with a flying dropkick from the second rope that puts Sousa down fo the 3 count. Official Decision: “Mr. Action” Mike Jackson defeated Silvano Sousa Ring Announcer Freddie Miller reenters the ring to interview the winner. Jackson is joined by his best friend and tag-team partner “Golden Boy” Paul Christy. Freddie Miller: Mike Jackson, congratulations on a big win and welcome to Georgia Championship Wrestling. You clearly showed why you’re called Mr. Action. Mike Jackson: Thank-you, Freddie, I want to thank all of the great people for giving me such a fine welcome. I want to thank the people at GCW Ringside Report for the coverage that they gave me in their latest edition. And most of all I want to thank the great fans. Georgia Championship Wrestling has the best roster of talent that I’ve ever seen assembled at one time in one promotion. And I’m here to test myself against the very best. Whether it be in singles or tag-team action I’m ready for whatever comes my way. Freddie Miller: Paul, you two have formed one solid tag-team. “Golden Boy” Paul Christy: thanks, Freddie, just like Mike said we’re ready for anything that comes our way. We have some of the greatest tag-teams that there’s ever been in right here in GCW and I’m talking about Mr. Wrestling 1 and 2, the Vachon Bros., the Bulldogs, and tonight in Augusta we’re going to be facing the tough new team of James J. Dillon and “Bruiser” Bill White. Mike Jackson: Dillon and White you get yourselves ready, because the Golden Boy and Mr. Action are coming to Savannah. Freddie Miller: thanks guys, fans in the Augusta area will want to make sure that they get out to the Civic Center early tonight so that they can get photos taken with and autographs signed by GCW Superstars like Mike Jackson and Paul Christy. Freddie Miller: Georgia Championship Wrestling Returns to the Omni October 12, 1977 Bell Time: 8:00 pm LANNY POFFO V/S “BULLDOG” DON KENT “MR. ACTION” MIKE JACKSON V/S “GERMAN STORM TROOPER” OTTO VON HELLER W/ THE BARON VON TURCO RON FULLER AND ROY LEE WELCH V/S MAD DOG AND BUTCHER VACHON W/ RON WRIGHT GIANT REBEL W/ RON WRIGHT V/S TITO SANTANA GEORGIA TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © MR. WRESTLING AND MR. WRESTLING 2 V/S BLACKJACK LAINE AND DIRTY DON BASS W/ SPUTNIK MONROE GEORGIA TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © RICKY GIBSON V/S JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER U.S. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © SHEIK W/ EDDIE “THE BRAIN” CREATCHMAN V/S CYCLONE NEGRO DON’T MISS IT, BE THERE We now are returned to the WRBL studios with Fred Ward and Jim Carlisle. Fred Ward: I tell you, that Mike Jackson is really a special talent. Jim Carlisle: They don’t call him Mr. Action for nothing and the Golden Boy is as solid as they come. We’re looking for big things from those two. Right now let’s go out to the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California to take a look at the new Hollywood Blondes. Dick Lane is your announcer. HOLLYWOOD BLONDES (JERRY BROWN AND MICHAEL HAYES W/ BUDDY ROBERTS) V/S GENERCHIRO TENRYU AND TERRY GORDY Buddy Roberts hobbles out on his crutches to accompany Jerry Brown-Michael Hayes as they battle Genichiro Tenyru-Terry Gordy. Brown pins Tenyru for the win in 8:14. Fred Ward: The Hollywood Blondes were a great team when they were here a few years ago, but now with the addition of the youngster Michael Hayes they look better than ever. And the two guys on the other side of the ring that Tenryu and Terry Gordy look to have a lot of potential as well. Jim Carlisle: As Rod Trongard said at the top of the show the American Wrestling Association and Georgia Championship Wrestling brings you the very best in professional wrestling from border to border and coast to coast. Now we take you from Los Angeles, CA. to Indianapolis, IN where we will see another top star one who are fans know very well Killer Karl Krupp in action against the always exciting Dos Caras. DOS CARAS VS KILLER KARL KRUPP w/Gerhardt Kaiser What a match! Caras was spectacular and on his way to victory when Kaiser interfered. This led to Krupp applying the German claw for the victory. Fred Ward: Dos Caras another extremely exciting wrestler competing here in the AWA but he just didn’t have enough in him to overcome Killer Karl Krupp. Jim Carlisle: I don’t agree with the man’s ideology but there is no question that Killer Karl Krupp remains one of the best and most feared wrestlers in the sport. Now let’s head back to Macon where we will see the dynamic combination of Tommy “Wildfire” Rich and Ricky Fields take on the Vachon Bros. 2ND TV MATCH Tommy “Wildfire” Rich and Ricky Fields v/s Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon and Paul “Butcher” Vachon. The Vachons may have underestimated the young blonde boys from TN. going into this match. That was a big mistake as the two young lions showed why they held the Southern Tag-Team Championships for a long period of time. Even when the Vachons wanted to roughhouse Wildfire held his own with the Butcher while Fields did the same with the Mad Dog. Rich and Fields managed to test the Vachons like few other teams have done in recent years but in the end it was the brothers coming away with the win. This happened when the Mad Dog caught Rich coming off the ropes with a knee to the back and then was tagged in by his brother the Butcher. Mad Dog rushed into the ring raked his nails along Rich’s back and then caught Wildfire with a double kneelift before putting the talented youngster down for good with the piledriver. Official Decision: Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon defeated Tommy “Wildfire” Rich and Ricky Fields. Mad Dog pinned Rich following a piledriver. Freddie Miller: Georgia Championship Wrestling Returns to the Omni October 12, 1977 Bell Time: 8:00 pm LANNY POFFO V/S “BULLDOG” DON KENT “MR. ACTION” MIKE JACKSON V/S “GERMAN STORM TROOPER” OTTO VON HELLER W/ THE BARON VON TURCO RON FULLER AND ROY LEE WELCH V/S MAD DOG AND BUTCHER VACHON W/ RON WRIGHT GIANT REBEL W/ RON WRIGHT V/S TITO SANTANA GEORGIA TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © MR. WRESTLING AND MR. WRESTLING 2 V/S BLACKJACK LAINE AND DIRTY DON BASS W/ SPUTNIK MONROE GEORGIA TV CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © RICKY GIBSON V/S JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER U.S. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © SHEIK W/ EDDIE “THE BRAIN” CREATCHMAN V/S CYCLONE NEGRO DON’T MISS IT, BE THERE Freddie Miller reenters the ring to interview the Vachons, Giant Rebel and their manager Ron Wright. Freddie Miller: Ron Wright, your men came close to losing that one. Why weren’t you in there corner. Ron Wright: Tommy Rich and Ricky Fields are from TN. and that automatically means that they are among the best in the sport. Still my men were the ones standing with their hands raised at the end of the match and that’s all that matters. Mr. Wrestling, Mr. Wrestling 2, Thunderbolt Patterson, Ricky Gibson are all having nightmares about these men that I have standing with me. If you’ve read the GCW Ringside Report you know that Ricky Gibson sacrificed his own brother because he was afraid of the Vachons. Now you have Thunderbolt Patterson quivering in the dark somewhere hoping that he can avoid the Giant Rebel and the tag-team champions, the cowards who are afraid to even show their faces are terrified of the Mad Dog and the Butcher. My men will destroy anyone who gets in their way and they will bring all of the titles back to me. Mad Dog Vachon: Remember, Ricky Gibson, it’s a dog eat dog world. Freddie Miller: There you have it from an extremely confident Ron Wright. Fred Ward: The Vachons were really tested in that match. I’d love to see a rematch between those two teams. Jim Carlisle: The Vachons are a great team but they are not the Georgia Tag-Team Champions and until they win those titles they cannot lay claim to being the best team in GCW. Ron Wright seems confident that his men can defeat Mr. Wrestling and Mr. Wrestling 2 but that remains to be seen. Fred Ward: Next up we’ll be going to the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to see the wildman the United States Heavyweight Champion the Sheik accompanied as always by Eddie “the Brain” Creatchman taking on the very capable challenger Nick DeCarlo. MATCH #3 - 1 fall, 10 minute time limit: The Sheik defeats Nick DeCarlo after locking DeCarlo in the Camel Clutch for the submission victory. Fred Ward: Nick DeCarlo is a top competitor. He’s held titles all around the world even forming a top ranked tag-team with Johnny Powers but in this match he was absolutely no match for the Sheik. I believe the Sheik will have a much harder time retaining his title when he defends against Cyclone Negro on October 12th in the Omni. I understand that Eddie Creatchman had some words about that upcoming match. Lord Athol Layton interviews Eddie Creatchman and the Sheik. The Sheik is licking a large snake that he has draped around his neck. Lord Athol Layton: Eddie Creatchman on Friday night, October 12th at the Omni in Atlanta, Georgia the Sheik will defend his title in what is arguably the toughest challenge that he has faced yet when he meet Cyclone Negro. Eddie Creatchman: Layton, the Sheik is invincible. There isn’t a man alive today who can stand toe to toe with this man. Mr. Negro has quite a reputation but he will be no match for the Noble Sheik. Jim Carlisle: Mr. Creatchman is certainly entitled to his opinion but I believe that Cyclone Negro has a very good chance of taking the U.S. title from him when the two meet at the Omni on Friday night October 12th. Now let’s head back to Macon where we will see the Georgia Tag-Team Champions Mr. Wrestling and Mr. Wrestling 2 defend their titles against another masked team in the Red Raiders. SEMI-MAIN EVENT GEORGIA TAG-TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH © MR. WRESTLING AND MR. WRESTLING II V/S RED RAIDERS The Raiders are impressive as they use superb mat wrestling combined with subtle rulebreaking tactics to gain an advantage on Mr. Wrestling 2. The Raiders work over 2’s leg trying to prevent him from using those hard knees of his. 2 fights back and catches both Raiders with hard kneelifts. This allows him to make the tag to Mr. Wrestling. Tim Woods hits the ring and lays into Red Raider 1 with some stinging right hand punches before bodyslamming Red Raider 2. Mr. Wrestling whips Red Raider 2 into the ropes and delivers a high backdrop to the masked bad guy as he comes off. Woods makes the tag to Mr. Wrestling 2 who rushes across the ring and demolishes RR 2 with the Million Dollar Kneelift. The 3 count is a mere formality following that. The Red Raiders have given Mr. Wrestling and Mr. Wrestling 2 a tough challenge but the champions have prevailed. Official Decision: Mr. Wrestling and Mr. Wrestling 2 defeated Red Raiders Freddie Miller interviews the winners’ mid-ring following the match. Freddie Miller: Gentlemen, congratulations on a hard earned victory. Mr. Wrestling: thanks, Freddie, you know whenever you go into the ring in Georgia Championship Wrestling that you are going to be facing the very best that this sport has to offer. The Red Raiders are an excellent team but tonight 2 and myself were just a little bit better. Mr. Wrestling 2: I’ve got a couple of things that I want to get off my chest. First, I’m sick and tired of teams coming in here and putting on masks thinking that can get to us. We are the best masked team in the business and that’s all there is to it. Second, Sputnik Monroe you want some more you come on back and get some more. Me and Martel beat Laine and Bass the last time that they were together and things aren’t going to be any different now that Timmy and myself are together. Last but not least, Love Bros. I know that you’re out there watching. You’re the World tag-team Champions and you’re using the Loser Leaves Town stipulation from when Martel and myself beat you to stay out of Georgia, but I’ve got some news for you I don’t care if it’s in Atlanta, Indianapolis, Toronto or anywhere else we want those World Tag-Team Titles and we’re coming after them. Mr. Wrestling: Speaking of Indianapolis, the great fans of the World Wrestling Association have been watching us here on WTBS and have been begging Les Thatcher to bring us into the area. I’m happy to report that things have been worked out and we look forward to competing in front of all of the great fans in that area. Freddie Miller: There you have it from Mr. Wrestling and Mr. Wrestling 2. They are one of the best, if not the best, team in wrestling today and if you get a chance to see them in your area make sure that you get down to the arena’s. Fred Ward: Mr. Wrestling brought up a very important point there. Fans all over the world are watching WTBS Superstation 17 and are writing us wanting these great wrestlers to come to their area. We appreciate this but you may want to contact your local AWA office and ask the promoters to bring the superstars of the Superstation to your area. We have had some fans who don’t have the advantage of living in an area served by the AWA contact us and beg us to bring the major league professional wrestling to their area. All I can say about that is that we plan to remain within the borders of the Peach State for the near future. But make sure that you stay tuned to Georgia Championship Wrestling for further developments concerning this situation because we believe that wrestling fans are the greatest fans in the world and that they deserve major league wrestling in their arenas. Jim Carlisle: Our Main Event will feature a match that would main event in any arena in the world as AWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel defends against the great Italian star Gino Brito. Before we get to that, however, let’s go to the voice of the AWA Mr. Rod Trongard. Rod Trongard: Hello wrestling fans, I hope that you're enjoying this exciting episode of Georgia Championship Wrestling as much as I am. He continues by inviting everybody to pay attention to the next match, as he will be putting a wrestling clinic. . . .
