October 1, 1977
Macon, Georgia
Macon Coliseum

Opening Bout
“Bruiser” Bill White and James J. Dillon defeated Cowboy Bob Kelly and Sweet Daddy Banks

This match pitted the experienced tag-team of Kelly and Banks against the relatively new combination of Dillon and White. Kelly and Banks gave the fans plenty to be excited about but in the end it was Dillon and White with yet another controversial victory as Dillon pinned Banks while placing his feet on the ropes for extra leverage.

Georgia TV Champion Ricky Gibson and Lanny Poffo go into this match looking for blood. They combine their considerable scientific skills with some extremely aggressive tactics and have the Vachons in trouble. Ron Wright turns the tide of the match when he trips Lanny as he comes off the ropes. Lanny rebounds after taking considering punishment and tags in Ricky. Gibson is on fire but he can’t handle both of the Vachon Bros. and winds up being the victim of a piledriver by the Mad Dog. Vachon pins Gibson following this brutal maneuver. He can now lay claim to having a pinfall victory over the TV Champion.

Official Result: Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon defeat Ricky Gibson and Lanny Poffo. Mad Dog pinned Gibson.

MAIN EVENT
Georgia Heavyweight Championship Match
©Thunderbolt Patterson v/s Dick the Bruiser

DTB dropped the WWA Heavyweight Championship to the big Austrian Otto Wanz last night. Tonight he’s come to the Deep South to try and take the Georgia Heavyweight Championship from Thunderbolt Patterson.

DTB is beloved in the Midwest but he hears the boos here as he viciously assaults ‘Bolt before the match even begins. It quickly becomes obvious that DTB is favoring his shoulder but like a wounded animal that been pushed into a corner he fights to protect that injury with everything that he’s got. The match spills out of the ring and all around the arena. ‘Bolt can barely do anything to defend himself and it looks like DTB is going to walk out of Macon as the Georgia Heavyweight Champion.

Finally in a desperate attempt to hold onto the title ‘Bolt grabs hold of the arm and delivers two hard headbutts to DTB’s shoulder. This seems to take the fight out of Afflis and plays a huge role in Patterson pinning DTB and retaining his title.

Official Decision: Thunderbolt Patterson defeated Dick “the Bruiser” Afflis to retain the Georgia Heavyweight Championship.

DTB appears to be unable to move his arm as he exits the ring and heads back to the dressing room.

Red,

I love the way you included the recent injuries to Bruiser's shoulder into the storyline.

The pin by Mad Dod on Gibson can put Vachon in the driver's seat for the TV title.

I love the use of Bob Kelly here. White and Dillon look to be a good team here.

Great card.

--10/6 TV is looking good
--The Vachons looked good
--Gibson better watch out for MD
--Great ME.  Once he recovers, DTB may want a rematch on his turf.  Thanks for carrying on the WWA storyline.  Perfect!
