WWC ARECIBA, PR ARENA SHOW 10/2/77
Oct 2nd, 2007, 7:44pm

WORLD WRESTLING COUNCIL
COLISEO MANUEL IGUINA
ARECIBA, PUERTO RICO
OCTOBER 2, 1977 7 PM
REFEREE: RICKY BENITEZ

All matches are sanctioned and governed by the National Wrestling Alliance.

--Puerto Rican national anthem

Match 1-

ERICH FROELICH/ CICLON SUDAMERICANO/ PEDRO EL GRANDE defeat BOB GRIFFIN/ ALI BABA/ BULL GREGORY

In a rare six man opening match, Ciclon Sudamericano pins Ali Baba after a flying clothesline from the top turnbuckle.

Time: 10:00

Match 2-

VICTOR RIVERA defeats INFERNO I w/ J. C. DYKES.

Rivera wins this highly competitive match. The telling sequence comes when Dykes accidentally hits his man with the “filled” canteen. Rivera follows up with a bodyslam and a cannonball drop.

Time: 12:38

Match 3-

ROCK RIDDLE defeats EL RAYO.

Both wrestlers work on the right arms of the other. Both men put a chicken wing submission on the other. The end of the match comes when Gil Hayes comes to ringside. He dons a mask that resembles that worn by El Rayo.

While Riddle argues with Benitez, Hayes jumps on the ring apron and delivers a loaded head butt to the back of Rayo’s head. Riddle is able to trap Rayo in a small package for the win.

Time: 18:20

Match 4-

EL DIABLO MASCARAS W/ MARK MANSON defeats ROBERTO SOTO.

This match would have been dead even had the two wrestlers been left alone. Manson is constantly trying to grab, distract, and make Soto’s time miserable. Benitez gets fed up and makes Manson leave. Security escorts him out.

Soto takes advantage of Manson’s leaving to gain momentum. A hot shot to Mascaras, followed by an elbow drop, looks to get a pin for Soto. Rock Riddle comes out to complain about Soto. Benitez argues with Riddle and Gil Hayes comes out. He slaps Soto with a gloved fist. Diablo Mascaras clamps on the camel clutch for a win.

Time: 17:39

Match 5-

MR. JUSTICE/ PEPPER GOMEZ defeat TOSH TOGO/ SUPER MEDICO.

Both teams are in control for extended periods of the match. Togo and Medico concentrate on Justice’s right arm. The faces work on Togo’s shoulders.

The match turns one final time as Medico has Justice in a full nelson. Togo goes into his trunks for the ceremonial salt. Justice gives Medico a low mule kick to the nether regions. Togo accidentally throws the salt into Medico’s eyes. During the melee, Medico gets Togo in a brain buster. Gomez knees Medico out of the ring. Justice clamps a sleeper on Togo for the victory.

Match 6-

PUERTO RICAN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
VICTOR JOVICA defeats HERCULES AYALA by COUNT OUT.

Ayala comes and seeks to avenge a loss to Jovica in a recent tag match. Ayala just obliterates Jovica so badly that Jovica drops to the floor to get a breather. Ayala talks trash about Jovica’s cowardice.

Ayala uses as much of the ringside furniture as he can. He grabs the Puerto Rican title belt and is about to hit Jovica with it. Benitez pulls the belt away from Ayala. Jovica uses the distraction to run Ayala’s face into the ring post. Ayala is busted open.

Jovica, then, rolls Ayala into the ring and applies a bow and arrow hold. The blood from Ayala’s head leaves puddles on the mat. In a show of great resilience, Ayala clotheslines Jovica and power slams him.

J. C. Dykes comes out and Benitez goes over to him and tells him to leave. Jovica takes out a pair of knucks and clobbers Ayala with them. Ayala falls out of the ring and, with his face too bloody already, he is counted out. Jovica has a pin and a count out victory over the Puerto Rican title holder.

Time: 22:28

Match 7-

WWC NORTH AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
THE SAMOAN KINGS w/ MARK MANSON defeat EARL MAYNARD/ DORY DIXON

This is a back-and-forth match. Afi injures his left arm on a fall through the ropes. Maynard and Dixon double team the limb and make it virtually useless. Maynard gets Afi in the standing hammerlock and he barely makes it to the ropes.

Dixon tries to bounce off the ropes for a bodyblock. Manson trips him out of the sight of Benitez. Dixon is angry and goes after Manson. Curtis knees him in the back and The Kings go to work on it.

Maynard is frustrated, as Dixon makes two different tags. However, Benitez sees neither one. The former Mr. Universe gets so frustrated that he comes in anyway. He goes after Curtis after throwing Afi out.

Manson jumps up and shouts something at Maynard. Maynard goes after him. Dixon tries to take advantage by going for another cross bodyblock. Curtis catches him in mid-air and power slams him. One big splash and The Samoan Kings have another successful title defense.
