AWA International TV 9/29/77 (Entre Bockwinkel!)
Oct 3rd, 2007, 1:19pm

AWA International Wrestling TV 9/29/77 (Taped 9/26/77)

~ In a match not taped for television, "Dynamite" Jack Evans defeated Mr. Hito after using a foreign object.

International Wrestling presents..."LES ÉTOILES DE LA LUTTE!" (The Superstars of Wrestling)

All matches are sanctioned by the AWA!

This show is coming to you from CHLT TV studios in Sherbrooke, Québec!

And now your hosts of the show Jack Curran & Jack Britton!

Curran & Britton waste no time in hyping the upcoming October 1st event at the Montreal Forum. We will run down the entire Forum card later in the program.

AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, NICK BOCKWINKEL will be here live in the studio today!

Curran then discusses what went down last week with Serge Dumont dressed up as the Green Hornet and getting his hands on Larry Sharpe. This brings TV Champion Larry Sharpe and his partner Jack Evans out to ringside.

Evans says that last week, Dumont may have gotten the best of Sharpe & Evans, and he gives him kudos for that. However, this Monday night EVERYTHING will change. On Monday night there will be a Loser Leaves Town Tag Team bout. The loser of the fall must LEAVE the Montreal area for no less than 1 full year!

This match will pit Larry Sharpe & Jack Evans vs. Serge Dumont and a partner of Sharpe’s choice. The Pretty Boy says he won’t keep the peon’s guessing any longer. Sharpe names as Dumont’s partner…..The real GREEN HORNET, a man who hasn’t won a match since entering the Montreal area! Sharpe & Evans get a big laugh and tell Dumont he’s better off going in alone than with the lowly Hornet as a partner. Evans tosses in “partner or not Dumont, you are at a handicap!”.

Curran then shakes his head at the duo and announces that Sharpe still has to defend his TV Title on today's program, and the name pulled is the up and coming masked star, Mr. Pro!

Sharpe seems a little upset he has to defend his title just a few days before his Loser Leaves Town match. He says it better not be Dumont hiding behind the Mr. Pro mask later today, like he pulled with the Hornet mask last week. Jack Curran said he has spoke to Mr. Pro and he ensures Larry Sharpe it WILL be Mr. Pro who plans to take the title from Larry Sharpe later today!

The TV champ & Jack Evans leave to prepare for the title bout scheduled for later on today’s program.

Bout 1: Mad Dog Lefebvre defeated Fred Peloquin with a powerslam in 3:00.

After the bout Lefebvre talks with Curran about facing the Hangman at the Forum.

This brings out Major Duke and his Hangman. Duke tells Lefebvre he better be ready for a fight, because the Hangman isn’t coming to just win a match, he’s coming to end the career of the Mad Dog!

Lefebvre challenges Hangman right here, right now, and rolls into the ring. Major Duke holds back the Hangman, telling him to wait until the Forum.

Bout 2: Chief War Cloud defeated The Green Hornet in 1:45 after a spinning tomahawk chop to the chest. Afterwards the chief looks into the camera and says he will scalp Billy Two Rivers!

Major Duke is down and says he has a warm-up match lined up for Eric the Red, in preparation for his bout with Jacques Rougeau Jr. at the Forum.

Bout 3: Eric the Red defeated Len Shelley with a big splash in 1:30. Major Duke is on commentary for the short contest putting over his monster. Eric goes for his bone and attempts to hit Shelley with it but the referee warns the Major. Duke then blows his dog whistle and Eric leaves the ring and comes to his manager.

Major Duke promises he will leave the whistle in the dressing room for the Eric the Red/Rougeau Jr. bout. He promises to leave a lasting impression on the Rougeau family.

It’s interview time and it is an honor to bring out AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Nick Bockwinkel. Nick comes out in a sports jacket with his hair perfectly in place. Nick asks to be referred to as Mr. Bockwinkel. Nick talks about his upcoming World Title defense against the Quebec Heavyweight Champion, Raymond Rougeau. Bockwinkel is looking forward to scouting Raymond later on today’s program. Nick says he will be out for commentary during that specific contest.

JR Foley & his British team of “Cyanide” Sid Cooper & “Strongman” Alan Dennison interrupt the interview with Bockwinkel, but Nick doesn’t seem to be bothered by it.

Bockwinkel tells Curran he will see him a bit later and will leave him with these “gentlemen”.

JR Foley grabs the mic. From Curran and says his team is being overlooked and that they want a title shot at the Forum! Foley calls the International Tag Team Champions, The Mercenaries, cowards…

And OUT COMES THE MERCENARIES. Frenchie Martin says it isn’t up to the champions to make the title matches, it’s up to the matchmaker’s. Frenchie tells the Brits that the matchmaker’s must not feel the Brits have done enough to earn a title shot quite yet.

This upsets the British team, who starts to get in the faces of the champions. At this point Frenchie says he can’t put the titles up on the line, because it isn’t his decision, but he can accept the challenge! The Mercenaries agree to wrestle the Brits at the Forum, and if the Brits can win, the matchmaker’s have no option BUT to give them a title shot in the near future!

We have ourselves another match for the Forum!

Back from the break, Curran and Britton begin to talk about the entire card signed for the Montreal Forum for October 1st!

------------------------------------------------------

Now AWA World Champion once again joins Curran & Britton, this time for commentary during the next bout.

Bout 4: Quebec Heavyweight Champion Raymond defeated Terry Garvin in 4:00 with the sleeper hold. Bockwinkel notes during the contest he will be watching out for the sleeper and plans to keep Rougeau grounded. Nick notes he notices some of Raymond’s weaknesses during this contest and plans to use them in his favor come Monday night at the Forum.

After the match Raymond comes over to Bockwinkel to shake his hand. The AWA World Champion says he only shakes the hand of men he respects and walks away from Rougeau. This upsets the crowd and Raymond.

When we return, TV Champion Larry Sharpe meets Mr. Pro!

Bout 5: Television Champion Larry Sharpe (w/Jack Evans) vs. The Masked “Mr. Pro”
Contest starts off on the mat. Both men grapple to gain advantage with Pro finally getting the upper hand with a grounded hammerlock. Pro stays on Sharpe for the first couple minutes until he is tripped up by Jack Evans at ringside.

Pro turns his back on Sharpe to go after Evans and is pearl harbored by the champion. Sharpe takes over on the masked man by ramming his head into the turnbuckles and delivering a patented vertical suplex for a two count. Sharpe stays on Pro and goes for the piledriver when out of nowhere…The Green Hornet appears at ringside!

Is it the Green Hornet….OR is it Serge Dumont in the Hornet mask again? Sharpe is uncertain and hesitates with the piledriver. The Hornet begins to walk towards the back and Sharpe sends Jack Evans to go after him.

With Sharpe & Pro left alone at ringside Sharpe reaches down to pick Pro up for another piledriver….but the Pro counters with a SMALL PACKAGE on Sharpe! 1----2-------3~!

Mr. Pro has JUST defeated Larry Sharpe in 7:00 for the Television Title and Sharpe can’t believe it! Sharpe is on his knees clutching his hair, arguing with the referee. Jack Evans is back now in the ring but Mr. Pro rolls out and grabs his newly won Television Title!

Serge Dumont, the Green Hornet, or whoever that was just cost Larry Sharpe the Television Title and the fans are in celebration! I can’t say it enough we have a NEW TV CHAMPION and it’s The Masked Man, Mr. Pro!

We have to take a break!

Curran & Britton are back and discuss Mr. Pro winning the TV Title from Larry Sharpe in the previous segment. Britton thinks that Serge Dumont was behind the distraction that aided Pro in the win and feels this may have opened a whole new can of worms. Britton thinks this will make Sharpe fight even dirtier at the Forum in the Loser Leaves Town tag team bout.

Fans make sure you are part of the Montreal Forum show this Monday night at the Montreal Forum. The AWA World Champion Nick Bockwinkel WILL be there to meet Canada’s own Raymond Rougeau.

Join us next week here on TV to see what went down and once again congratulations to the NEW Television Champion, Mr. Pro!

Interesting match between Lefebvre and Peloquin two men who patterned themselves after the Mad Dog.

I would have never thought that J.R. Foley could be so stupid. I don't care who you are you don't want to make an enemy out of Mad Dog Martel and Maniac Martin.

Congrats to Mr. Pro on his TV title win.

Classy to have Bockwinkel not interfere.

War Cloud is a real force since his attitude adjustment.

Super TV show.
