WWC BAYAMON ARENA SHOW 10/7/77
Oct 7th, 2007, 2:00pm

WORLD WRESTLING COUNCIL
COLISEO RUBEN RODRIGUEZ
BAYAMON, PUERTO RICO
OCTOBER 7, 1977 7 PM
REFEREE: TOMAS MARIN

All matches are sanctioned and governed by the National Wrestling Alliance.

--Puerto Rican national anthem

Match 1-

BOB GRIFFIN defeats PEDRO EL GRANDE with an atomic drop.

Time: 9:26

Match 2-

ERICH FROELICH/ CICLON SUDAMERICANO defeat BULL GREGORY/ ALI BABA.

This is a competitive match that turns when Ali Baba makes a mistake. He accidentally clotheslines Gregory. The missed move softens Gregory up for a double Russian leg sweep by Froelich and Sudamericano. Froelich scores the pin.

Time: 11: 59

Match 3-

TOSH TOGO defeats MR. JUSTICE.

Justice has the edge in this match until Super Medico comes to ringside. He comes out and argues with the referee. While he does, Togo is able to throw salt in Justice’s eyes. While Justice is blinded, Togo jabs Justice with a chop to the throat. When Marin turns around, Togo is covering Justice. He counts three.

Time: 15:00

Match 4-

EARL MAYNARD/ DORY DIXON/ HERCULES AYALA defeat THE INFERNOS/ VICTOR JOVICA w/ J.C. DYKES by DQ

The match looks like it will go the faces’ way late in the contest. Ayala has Jovica in a Hangman’s back breaker outside the ring. Earl Maynard has Inferno II in the standing hammerlock in the ring. Dykes takes off his belt and, blatantly, hits Maynard with it. Marin calls for the bell. Dykes throws the belt to Inferno I, who likewise clobbers Dixon. The four men, then, beat up on Ayala. All three winners don’t look it, as the heels leave.

Time: 18:23

Match 5-

KING TONGA defeats EL DIABLO MASCARAS w/ MARK MANSON.

During the closing moments of a brutal contest, referee Tomas Marin gets in between Tonga and Mascaras, as Tonga is attempting a corner splash. Manson tries to come in and interfere, but is met by a savate kick from Tonga. Mascaras tries for a flying forearm. Tonga turns around and ducks. Mascaras hits the mat hard. When he gets up, Tonga hits him with a savate kick for the pin.

Time: 18:50

Match 6-

GIL HAYES/ ROCK RIDDLE defeat EL RAYO/ ROBERTO SOTO

The early portions of this contest feature each team with a prolonged advantage. Soto and El Rayo double team Riddle, after he takes an awkward fall to the floor. Hayes uses his wrist tape to choke Soto out of the eyes of the referee. Hayes softens up the right leg of Soto.

A lovely lady in the Bomber’s Red Velvet Room plays an important part in this match’s decision. A cocky Hayes flirts with the woman and offers her money. She slaps Hayes and El Rayo comes to her aid.

Later, Hayes is arguing with the woman again and El Rayo, once again, responds. This time, however, the woman clobbers Rayo with her purse. Security escorts her off, but the damage is done. Riddle unloads on Rayo with a brain buster for the pin. Hayes blocks Soto off.

Time: 27:08

Match 7-

CARLOS COLON defeats HIGH CHIEF AFI w/ MARK MANSON

This is the first match between Colon and Afi since Afi injured Dean Ho’s shoulder and put the Hawaiian on the shelf. King Curtis and Manson accompany Afi to the ring. Marin sends Curtis to the back. Marin gets the house mike and tells the crowd that Curtis does not have a manager’s license, even though Manson does. Curtis is escorted back by security.

Colon takes an early advantage, building on the pre-match momentum. He grounds the high-flying Islander, working on his right ankle. In desperation, Afi throws Colon to the floor and grabs Marin in pain. Manson pulls a piece of metal from his boot and carves Colon up with it.

Both wrestlers go back and forth from this point. Manson keeps on interfering in the match, so Colon brings him over the top rope. Afi charges in, hoping to get the drop on Colon. Colon turns around quickly and throws Manson into Afi. Their heads collide. Colon rolls up Afi for the pin.

another excellent show. I have to read WWC each and every week even if it is an enemy promotion.

Hays/Riddle v/s the Soto Bros. was a great match. I don't know where you're going with the woman but I'm liking it.

Colon v/s Afi was really good.

I agree with red.  WWC is a must read.  Liked the 6-man and Colon the best.

Colon-Afi would have been worth many pesos, or whatever they use in Puerto Rico. I liked the six man as well.
