Promoter's note: Finally, after almost a month of work, I've caught up on every show. Now... can I stay caught up? AWA-CWA 10/8/77 from the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, TN 1) George Welles defeats Don Ross with a big football tackle 2) “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones defeats Butch Malone with a swinging full nelson 3) The Medics defeat Steve Regal and Ricky Fields after the Medics pull the switch on the young duo, catching Regal with an inside cradle. 4) In a “money on a poll” match, Sugar Bear Harris takes the 5,000 pounds from the Scottish Giant after the Giant snapped the bottom rope trying to climb up and gather the bag of money. After the match, Lord John Raven berates his Giant all the way to the back. 5) After a short intermission to fix the ropes, the Professional defeats the Hawaiian Flash with a sleeper after a series of brutal elbows to the brow of the Flash. Tojo Yamamoto then orders the Professional to take the mask off the Hawaiian Flash and only a save from Tommy Rich who charged from the back keeps the mask on the flash. 6) Derek Draper defeats Steve Lawler with the cobra hold. The muscle-bound Lawler looks out of step against the impressive Draper. 7) “Superstar” Bill Dundee defeats “Gentleman” Jim Breaks in a battle between top junior heavyweights. Breaks had all of the BBC present at ringside and were ready to assault the top contender for the World Junior Heavyweight Title before Black Angus Campbell charged the BBC and started pounding away on Lord John Raven. 8) Bobby Jaggers, Tito Montez, and Dutch Mantell knock off the Miser’s trio of Randy Savage and the Southern Tag Team champions Dennis Condrey and Phil Hickerson after Bobby Jaggers dropped Condrey with a hangman’s neck breaker. Savage and Mantell took themselves out of the match, brawling all the way to the back. 9) In a huge special main event, AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Ronnie Garvin defeats AWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Roddy Piper to retain the Southern title in a classic match. As the match approached the 45-minute time limit, Garvin is able to hit a sunset flip to get the victory, but as quickly as he is handed the belt and has his hand raised in victory, Jerry Lawler, who came ringside late in the match, attacks Garvin and drops him with a hard left. Lawler then delivers a pile driver to the champion and walks out with the Southern title over his shoulder through a shower of verbal abuse and trash. AWA-CWA 10/10/77 from the Louisville Gardens in Louisville, KY 1) Ricky Fields defeats Don Ross with a big drop kick off the top rope. 2) Steve Lawler defeats Big Bill Howard with a fist drop off the second rope that he follows up with a full nelson for a submission victory. 3) The Hawaiian Flash defeats Butch Malone with a Thesz press. After the contest, Yamamoto san calls out the Professional who goes at the Flash and along with Malone tries to remove the mask of the Flash. Tommy Rich charges the ring and makes the save, knowing that he will see the Professional later on in the evening. 4) The Scottish Giant defeats the Spoilers with a massive splash in a handicap match. Noted by his absence is Lord John Raven. The Giant seemed a bit lost during the contest until Black Angus Campbell came ringside and rallied the Giant. 5) Derek Draper defeats Kelly Kiniski in a strong contest after locking on the cobra hold. 6) ‘Professor” Bill Ash defeats Steve Regal with the Arkansas Whiplash in a highly technical matchup. 7) Tommy Rich and the Professional battle to a double count out as both men hardly stay in the ring and under control in their contest. 8) In a huge six-man main event Bobby Jaggers, Tito Montez, and Dutch Mantell defeat the Miser’s trio of Southern Tag team Champions Dennis Condrey, Phil Hickerson, and Randy Savage after Montez is able to take down dennis with a textbook flying head scissors. Randy Savage and Dutch Mantell took themselves out of the match, brawling their way to the back just as the opening bell rang. 9) Jerry “the King” Lawler defeats the fabulous Jackie Fargo in a hard fought main event that sees Lawler bend every possible rule before he picks up the victory after a fist drop off the second rope.
