NWA Wrestling at The Chase 10/14/1977
Oct 14th, 2007, 10:00am

- Larry Matysik is at the Announce Desk!! Big news out of last weekend, as the Central States Tag Team Champions Harley Race and Ted DibIase defeated Ken Patera and Jesse Ventura to become the NWA World Tag Team Champions. While that is great news, it also means that the Central States Tag Team Championship is vacant, and new matchmaker Bob Geigel is meeting with promoters from all around the globe to put together a tournament featuring the finest teams in the world to compete for the title. The World Tag Titles aren't the only titles to have changed hands this week, as Tatsumi Fujinami defeated Jerry Brisco in Madison Square Garden on Monday Night to become the New Champion, Mr. Fujinmai is defending his title tonight in another part of the country, but Larry brings in Fujinami's manager Arnold Skaaland, and the Missouri Champion Bob Backlund. Skaaland and Backlund have nothing but praise for not only Fujinami, but also the New World Tag Team Champions. Backlund says he hopes to one day soon be the next wrestler from St Louis Wrestling to win a World Title. Matysik asks Backlund if he will try and find a partner to team with for the Tag Team Tournament, Backlund says he may, but right now he is concentrating on defending the Missouri Championship and trying to secure a match against his friend World Champion Wahoo McDaniel. Backlund says there are many challengers here in St Louis for his title, and he looks forward to facing them all.

- Hussein Arab with Bobby Heenan defeats  Ron Slinker. Heenan grabs a microphone and challenges Jos LeDuc on  behalf of Arab.

- Larry Matysik interviews Jos LeDuc at the Announce Desk. LeDuc accepts the challenge of Heenan and Arab, and says that there is no need to wait, and the match will take place next week. LeDuc says he has one goal now in Professional Wrestling, and that is the destruction of the Heenan Family.

- Central States Champion Bob Slaughter and Tank Patton defeat Mike Pappas and Terry Sawyer by DQ when Stan Hansen attacks the Central States Champion with a Bullrope!!! It takes several wrestlers to clear the scene.

- The Royal Kangaroos were interviewed at the Announce Desk. They feel there is no reason for this tournament, and lay claim to the Central States Tag Team Championship. The Kangaroos says all the wrestlers here in the states are soft, and it will be easy for them to walk out of the tournament with the belts.

- Spike Huber and Sweet Brown Sugar defeat Tony Russo and George Barnes with a Double Dropkick. Matysik says that The Kangaroos may feel they will just walk out with the Central States Tag Team Titles, but this young team of Sugar and  Huber may shock everyone and win the tournament.

- Ken Lucas gets a win here at the Chase when he defeats Tony St Clair with a Sleeper Hold, making his television in ring debut a successful one.

- Stan Hansen bursts on to the scene with his Bullrope, slamming it down onto the Announce Desk. Hansen says he isn't done with the Central States Champion, not by a longshot. Hansen says he already done been to see Bob Geigel, and he got all the papers drawn up, if Slaughter ain't a chicken he'll sign 'em too, and he'll put his Central States Title up in A BULLROPE MATCH!!!!!!!!!

Now, that's a seamless transition!

I like the Huber/SBS team. There were several faces you could team up, but I think these guys could really go.

Looking forward to seeing the Central States Tag Tournament as well as the Bullrope match.

Really good show. Mario did a great job in Portland and I know he'll do just as well in St. Louis. Grigs has some great things going and I know things will continue to run smoothly. I like the Kangaroos and Huber and Young will make for a good program.

Huber and Young are a great young team. I would love to see a program with them and The Royal Kangaroos.

The Hansen/ Slaughter rivalry is still going strong.

Looking forward to Backlund and his Missouri title defenses.

I will look forward to the tag tourney, also.

Great St. Louis action. Mario doesn't miss a beat.
