I think the Warriors' heel turn in 1988 had something to do with Sting subbing for Dusty during a 6 man title defense, then Sting was attacked to send a message to Dusty for not being there, which set up a match at Clash of the Champions Season's Beatings(Hawk or Animal vs. Dusty?), which in turn set up a tag match with the Warriors vs. Sting and Dusty for the Warriors' newly won World Tag Team Titles. Somewhere in there the 6 man titles quietly disappeared....though I may be wrong...
Forgot to mention the Sting/Dusty vs. Warriors was part of Starrcade '88. Incredible heat for this particular match, If I recall.
The Roadies were upset that Dusty didn't show up because of some sort of charity event he was attending. Sting subbed for him and they beat the snot out of him to send a message to Rhodes for not putting business first. This in turn led to their attack on Dusty in the infamous spike angle on TBS that ultimately led to him being removed as booker and eventually leaving the company.
The match at Season's Beatings was Animal vs. Dusty to determine the fate of the Six Man titles. If Dusty won he got to choose new partners to hold the belts with, and if Animal won then he and Hawk could choose a new partner. Animal won and the Roadies selected Genichiro Tenryu from Japan. By early '89 the Warriors were faces again and the Six Man championship faded away altogether.
When Dusty returned to WCW as booker in 1991, the championship was resurrected for a few months and then abandoned again.
