AWA-CWA 10/17 &10/19 Huge 6-man/Lawler-Garvin
Oct 19th, 2007, 10:36am

AWA-CWA
10/17/77 from the Louisville Gardens, Louisville, KY

1)      The Medics defeat the duo of George Welles and “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones after Medic #1 pinned Welles with his feet on the ropes. Jones is irate with the match official, but is blown off as the next match is readied.

2)      “Professor” Bill Ash defeats Steve Regal with an Arkansas Whiplash.

3)      The Hawaiian Flash defeats Don Ross with a Thesz Press that followed a series of rolling arm drags that fully disoriented the muscular Ross. After the match, Tojo Yamamoto and his masked man, the Professional, are seen standing menacingly at ringside. Only action by official allows the Flash to get back to the locker room without incident.

4)      Black Angus Campbell defeats Ricky Fields with a big gut wrench suplex.

5)      The AWA Southern Tag Team champions Dennis Condrey and Phil Hickerson fall to Bobby Jaggers and Tito Montez by disqualification after the Miser gets into the match, delivering a loaded headbutt to both Jaggers and Montez in full view of the official.

6)      Randy Savage and Dutch Mantell brawl their way to a 20-minute time limit draw that sees repeated near falls and a great deal of blood.

7)      Tommy Rich defeats Paul DeMarco with a Thesz press that he follows with a spinning toe hold for a submission victory.

8)      AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Ron Garvin, Derek Draper and Kelly Kiniski defeat the BBC trio of Jim Breaks, Marc Rocco, and Pat Roach in a big 6-man main event. Rocco showed some impressive technical skill, but he was pinned by the Southern champ after a sunset flip. Lord John Raven was barred from ringside early in the contest after trying to slip his men a foreign object.

AWA-CWA
10/19/77 from the Civic Auditorium, Knoxville, TN

1)      The duo of Big Bill Howard and Don Ross defeat “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones and George Welles after Welles misses with a big shoulder tackle on Ross. A big power slam connects and Ross gets the 1-2-3 even though Welles gets his foot on the ropes. After the match both men are irate with the official.

2)      “Professor” Bill Ash defeats Ricky Fields with an Arkansas Whiplash.

3)      The Hawaiian Flash defeats the fire-tossing madman Mephisto with a big Thesz press. After the match, the Professional and his manager, Tojo Yamamoto, assault the Flash, battering him into the mat and only intervention by Tommy Rich, who sprinted from the back, keeps the Flash from being unmasked.

4)      Black Angus Campbell defeats Butch Malone with a big gut wrench suplex.

5)      Dutch Mantell and Randy Savage brawl their way to a 20-minute time limit draw. Both men come close to victory with repeated near falls, but neither man can close the deal.

6)      Kelly Kiniski defeats the muscle headed lame brain Steve Lawler, connecting on a big Canadian back breaker.

7)      The Professional defeats a very fired up Tommy Rich with a sleeper hold after Rich’s emotion got the better of him and he turned his attention to Tojo Yamamoto, who was riling him at ringside.

8)      AWA Southern tag team champions Dennis Condrey and Phil Hickerson defeat the BBC duo of Marc Rocco and Jim Breaks to retain the titles.

9)      AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Ron Garvin defeats Jerry “the King” Lawler by disqualification after the King delivers a pile driver to the champ.

Great cards as usual.  It seems the officials have a tough time calling the Wells/Jones matches down the middle.  Garvin continus to impress as champion.  Rich continues his up and down push.  Condrey & Hickerson are really being tested.  Mantel/Savage is the best thing going in CWA right now.

Jones/ Welles are certainly getting the shaft here.

The Hawaiian Flash is working his way up and looking good.

Hickerson and Condrey must have felt they were close to losing to blantantly cheat like that.

The BBC is not as impressive without Lord Raven.

Black Angus looks strong his split from the Lord.

Garvin and Lawler is red hot and great to watch.

Great cards.
