NWA "Championship Wrestling From Amarillo" 10/21
Oct 21st, 2007, 12:41am

This week's show is greatly abbreviated because of time constraints and will be confined to a very short "format." The normal length should return in two weeks.

NWA Championship Wrestling from Amarillo
KFDA Studios
October 21, 1977

Steve Stack and Paul Boesch introduce the show and hype today's matches as well as this Thursday's landmark card in Lubbock. Our main event tonight will be Chris Taylor, Johnny Weaver, and NWA World Heavyweight Champion Wahoo McDaniel against Masa Saito, Mr. Fuji, and the One Man Gang from Halstead Street.

-1- In the 7-Minute Challenge, Mick McManus
pinned Blue Panther after a running knee strike to the forehead and a double stomp to the chest. (5:43)

INTERVIEW: Bobby Davis, Gino Hernandez, Jerry Brisco, and Robert Fuller all alledge that conspiracies abound here in the NWA and Davis says that NWA President Jack Adkisson screwed Brisco out of the Jr. Title, but he and Joe Blanchard will not commit anymore tragedies this Thursday night and they will keep their gold (no matter what the stipulation is in the tag match) and win more when Fuller beats Funk.

-2- The #1 contenders to the Western States Tag Team Titles  Bobby Eaton & Paul Orndorff defeated Billy Spears & Buddy Wayne after Eaton got the pin on Wayne with a leg drop from the top rope. Jerry Brisco came out and scouted during the match. (8:32)

INTERVIEW: NWA International Heavyweight Champion Dory Funk Jr. says that he's trained very hard for his latest match with Robert Fuller and he'll be ready for whatever Robert has up his sleave. Funk closes by saying that the NWA is the premiere league in professional wrestling and any other groups claiming otherwise are pretenders to the throne.

-3- Porkchop Cash pinned Ricky Thompson with a vertical suplex after brutalizing the young man for an exedingly long period of time. After the match, Cash continued beating on Thompson, until Rufus R. Jones ran in and cleared the ring. Rufus got on the microphone and said that he was gonna give his former friend a "whoopin" in Lubbock. (6:34)

INTERVIEW: Joe Blanchard made the special announcement that there would be a special referee for the Western Statest Tag Team Title Match since Bobby Davis had a way of interfering so often. Blanchard said he couldn't think of anyone better than DICK MURDOCH, who came out to a big ovation! Murdoch came out with a big smile on his face and said he'd call things right down the middle. Gino Hernandez and Bobby Davis came out from the back ranting and raving, but Blanchard said the decision was made. Dick Murdoch just laughed and told his "pal" Gino that he wished him nothing but luck this Thursday night!

-4- In the main event, Masa Saito, Mr. Fuji, & One Man Gang (w/ Playboy Gary Hart) defeated Chris Taylor, Johnny Weaver, & NWA World Heavyweight Champion Wahoo McDaniel when Mr. Torture shocked the world by catching Wahoo in a Saito Suplex and pinning him, while his partners fought off the good guys. This gives Masa Saito tremendous momentum going into this Thursday's NWA World Heavyweight Title match in Lubbock. (16:43)

Steve Stack and Paul Boesch are in shock over what we've just seen, but they do a hard-sell for this Thursday's big card in Lubbock and of course really hype the NWA as the premiere name in wrestling, which it is of course. They remind everyone that due to this Thursday's supercard, next week's TV broadcast will be a restrospective on the "Best of Dory Funk Junior," but we'll be back live in two weeks here on "Championship Wrestling from Amarillo!"

Saito pinning McDaniel in a six man certainly does give the Hart charge momentum.

I love this 7 minute challenge by McManus.

The young lion team of Orndorff and Eaton is just what the doctor ordered for the Western States Tag Title.

Funk versus Fuller should be great in Lubbock.

NWA and Amarillo will rule on Oct. 26.

I apologize for not leaving as much feedback as I should. I really liked this show. Fuji, Saito and OMG make a very interesting trio. I have always like Cash. I'm looking forward to the card in Lubbock. I'd like to see Wahoo vs. Saito. Very good work.

I'm with Tom, I've been really lazy lately, as far as feedback goes.

I've been keeping up with everything, though, Amarillo's been one of my favourite promotions for a while now.

That 6-man tag team match was great, I was surprised to see Saito get the win over Wahoo.  Could we be in for another surprise on the 26th, and see Saito become World Champion?  I wouldn't be at all surprised.

I really enjoyed that #1 contenders tag team match too, I like the team of Billy Spears and Buddy Wayne, same with Eaton and Orndorff.  I hope to see more matches between these two teams in the future.

Look big daddy, it's regular daddy.

El Mariachi: You want me to shoot the cook?
Agent Sands: No. I'll shoot the cook. My car's parked out back anyway.

Really good show here.  Saito with a big pin on the champ.  Murdock has something in store for the Handsome Half-breed.  Seven minute challenge is going well.  Good stuff.
