WWC AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO ARENA SHOW 10/21/77
Oct 21st, 2007, 8:24pm

WORLD WRESTLING COUNCIL
LUIS T. DIAZ COLISEUM
AGUADILLA, PUERTO RICO
OCTOBER 21, 1977 7 PM
REFEREE: RICKY BENITEZ

All matches are sanctioned and governed by the National Wrestling Alliance.

--Puerto Rican national anthem

Match 1-

ERICH FROELICH defeats ALI BABA with an abdominal stretch.

Time: 8:29

Match 2-

DORY DIXON and SUPER MEDICO wrestle to a 20 minute DRAW.

Both wrestlers use submissions to wear each other down as the time limit draws near. Medico uses a chicken wing with eight minutes left that Dixon barely makes it to the ropes to break. As the bell rings, Dixon has Medico in a painful surfboard that Medico has gotten to his knees to relieve the pain.

Time: 20:00

Match 3-

THE INFERNOS w/ J.C. DYKES defeat EARL MAYNARD/ CICLON SUDAMERICANO

A good match for Sudamericano and Maynard, who have not teamed before. The Infernos get their advantages by shortcuts and interference by Dykes. The decision comes when referee Benitez checks on a bleeding Ciclon after he is slammed into the steps by Inferno I. Inferno II is in a standing hammerlock from Maynard. Dykes hits him with the “filled” canteen. Maynard is rolled into a small package for the tainted win by The Infernos.

Time: 17:20

Match 4-

HURACAN CASTILLO defeats EL DIABLO MASCARAS w/ MARK MANSON by DQ.

This match is a technical marvel as both men show they can really mat wrestle. Both wrestlers hit drop kicks from the top rope. When Castillo hits his, Diablo Mascaras falls through the middle ropes. Manson gives him a piece of metal, which Diablo Mascaras puts in his match.

Eventually, Diablo Mascaras ties Castillo in the ropes and pummels Castillo with loaded head butts. Benitez disqualifies Diablo Mascaras and threatens him with suspension. Manson and Mascaras reluctantly leave.

Time: 19:00

Match 5-

MR. JUSTICE defeats TOSH TOGO

Mr. Justice is a demon in this match. He does not break clean and the crowd loves it. He hits Togo in the throat on a ref break just as Togo has done numerous times. Justice scores the pin with a move takes right out of the Japanese star’s playbook.

When Benitez gets caught between the two wrestlers, Togo goes for the salt. Justice kicks it out of his hand. He picks it up and throws it into Togo’s eyes. One sleeper hold later and Justice gets a bit of revenge when a recovered Benitez calls for the bell.

Time: 22:15

Match 6-

INVADER I defeats KING CURTIS w/ MARK MANSON

The match is not the technical marvel from earlier in the night. It is just two brutal wrestlers doing what they do best: beat people up. Both men take the fight to the floor as much as in the ring. Both men post the other and body slam each other on the hard coliseum floor.

When Curtis brings out and uses the fork, Invader III brings one out for a crimson Invader I. Benitez sends the masked partner back, but the damage is done. The match ends when a bloody Curtis tries a middle rope big splash. Invader I gets his knees up. When Curtis comes up, Invader I hits the heart punch. Invader III is back out and holds off Manson for the pin to be made.

Time: 23:28

Match 7-

CARLOS COLON/ VICTOR RIVERA defeat GIL HAYES/ ROCK RIDDLE

Colon tells Hayes that he heard on TV how he thought he stood up to the legendary Carlos Colon. He said if you want to earn respect, let’s go old school by making this a two-out-of three fall tag match. Riddle and Hayes are hesitant, at first, but do agree to the stipulation.

FALL 1- Colon and Rivera take advantage of an awkward landing by Riddle after a missed fist drop. They work on the right knee and Colon gets a submission with a figure four @ 11:25.

FALL 2- Rivera tries to make it two straight falls against Riddle when he tries to land a cannonball drop on the blond bomber. Hayes slams the ropes and Rivera misses the drop. Riddle tags Hayes in. Hayes hits a high knee lift and slaps on the Indian death lock for the second fall win @ 19:39.

FALL 3-Rivera is the recipient of some devastating teamwork by Hayes and Riddle in the third fall. One of the few mistakes for the Blond Bombers leads to the decision. Riddle holds Rivera up for Hayes. Hayes adjusts his elbow pad and attempts a running clothesline. Rivera ducks and Hayes takes out Riddle. Rivera rolls to Colon for the tag. Colon dropkicks Hayes from the ring. Colon hits a quick shoulder breaker on Riddle for the pin @ 25:39.

What can I say?  Every show in WWC is great.  Those Puerto Rican fans are so lucky to be able to see this kind of quality each time out.  My favorite had to be the Main.
