IMO Midnight Express (Eaton & Condrey or Lane with Cornette). Simply put, the MX made the faces look great in the highest profile tag team feuds in that time frame. They headlined the Night of the Skywalkers with the Roadies, and through 2 full tours did scaffold matches with Rock-n-Roll and the Fantastics. They had their program with the James Boys, Garvin and Windham--and, as mentioned in an earlier thread, carried the Southern Boys to a solid match on PPV. They were the team that the promotion, when in a spot, put the World Tag Team Championship on even though they were already the US Tag Team Champions. They provided the steam when they were bad and were the technical spectacle when they had their face run against The Horsemen, and even the Original MX. As an aside, Tommy Rogers told me that the Bobby Eaton is the best worker he ever wrestled--better than even Flair. As a teenager I liked the Road Warriors, but today, the things that were appealing then are kind of a sign of bad work today. They looked like they were knocking the sh*t out of people on TV and doing stuff that was really dangerous--problem was they were and it was. They were never workers of the caliber of the MX. I mean going by the tag team book, the Roadies were the top team at the time, but IMO the book is a bit too high on how guys were booked to win or lose and the impact they had on the game just in their style/look.
