CWA 11/9/77 Two Shows~ Knoxville and Chattanooga
Nov 9th, 2007, 2:17pm

AWA-CWA
11/9/77 from the Memorial Coliseum in Knoxville, TN

1)      Kelly Kiniski defeats Butch Malone with a Canadian back breaker for the opening win.

2)      Paul DeMarco defeats the Hawaiian Flash with a powerful elbow smash to the center of the masked man’s forehead. DeMarco gets some retribution, but can’t pry off the Flash’s mask.

3)      Steve Lawler falls to Black Angus Campbell after the powerful Scotsman connects with a gut wrench suplex.

4)      Ricky Fields and Steve Regal defeat the Medics after a big drop kick from Ricky and a cannonball splash from Steve sends the masked men to the mat.

5)      Ron Fuller receives a mixed reaction for the second week in a row in Knoxville but he defeats Tommy Gilbert in a highly competitive contest, slapping on the Fuller leg lock for the victory.

6)      AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion Ron Garvin clashes with Derek Draper in a match that is announced to be no disqualification. Garvin and Draper take full advantage of the stipulation as both men step well beyond the line. Garvin in the end is able to get a count out victory as a bloody Draper is dumped out of the ring and is unable to regain his presence in the ring before the count of 10. Both men have to be helped to the back.

AWA-CWA
11/9/77 from the UTC arena in Chattanooga, TN

1)      Randy Savage defeats Don Ross with a flying elbow dorp.

2)      “Mr. Ebony” Tom Jones and George Welles defeat the BBC duo of Pat Roach and Jim Breaks after Welles drills Breaks with a monster shoulder tackle. Lord John Raven is far from impressed by his men’s response in the ring.

3)       The Scottish Giant and Sugar Bear Harris brawl their way to a double count out as their match spilled to the outside.

4)      Tommy Rich defeats Tojo Yamamoto with a big Thesz press that he follows with a spinning toehold. Yamamoto seems to be shaking off the months of ring rust as he put forward a highly competitive match.

5)      “Professor” Bill Ash falls to the BBC’s Marc Rocco after an amazing junior heavyweight contest. The fans were firmly behind Ash the entire match, but in the end Rocco got the pin with a beautiful bridging German suplex.

6)      Jerry ”the King” Lawler defeats the fabulous Jackie Fargo in a match that gets all the fans in attendance pumped up. Lawler is able to finish the Fabulous one with a fist drop off the second rope.

7)      The AWA Southern Tag Team titles are on the line in the main event and the fans saw a great match. Champions Dennis Condrey and Phil Hickerson defeated the challengers Dutch Mantell and Tito Montez with quite a bit of outside assistance in the form of Randy Savage. Savage came ringside and attacked Dutch Mantell, slamming him into the ring apron and creating a distraction that allowed Dennis and Phil to double team Montez inside the ring. When referee Paul Morton turned back around after he was certain Savage was in retreat, Montez was down and covered by Hickerson for the 1-2-3.

Great match from Montez and Mantell. I'm biased but Montez is a great talent.

Fargo vs. Lawler is a special match for the CWA fans.

Ronnie Garvin is a fantasic champion but how much more can his luck hold out.

Love Welles and Jones and their team.

Yamamoto was always a great draw here. Nice to see him as an in-ring competitor.

Great cards as always, Midwest.
