DARK MATCH:
Bret Hart defeats Tony Anthony
.

These two youngsters went tooth and nail for the entire match.  Both men wrestled a clean, scientific match.  Hart gained the upper hand late in the match, and locked Anthony in an Abdominal Stretch for the submission victory.
.
.
.
.
.
The Stampede opening plays, showing several Stampede stars of past and present, in action in short clips.

We then join Ed Whalen sitting at the announcer's table at ringside.

Whalen: "Hello again everyone, and welcome to Stampede Wrestling.  I'm Ed Whalen and do we have a show lined up for you today!  Bruce Hart asked for a match with Don Carson, and he'll get it right here today, and if Hart can defeat Carson in under 30 minutes, he'll win $1,000!  Gerry Morrow is back on television this week, and he squares off with Ray Osborne.  Last week, Mark Lewin was announced as the special referee for a match between Don Leo Jonathan and King Curtis Iaukea, well after what took place in that match, a tag team match has been signed for today's program, Mark Lewin teams up with Don Leo Jonathan to face King Curtis Iaukea and Jerry Graham.  And, of course, we've got a HUGE feature bout lined up for you today.  Last week, the mysterious masked man who had been attacking Keith Franks revealed himself to be none other than Greg Valentine, and he'll get another shot at Keith Frank's North American Title right here today in our feature bout!"

"It's going to be an action-packed program, so let's get right to it, our opening contest is ready to go, so let's go up to the ring now for that match."

$1,000 Challenge Match:
Don Carson defeats Bruce Hart
.

Carson taunts Hart as the match begins, but Bruce gets right in Carson's face.  Don motions to him to calm down as he backs away.  Carson even offers his hand to Hart, who relunctantly shakes it...then Carson jabs a thumb into Bruce's eye!  Carson then unloads on Bruce, hitting him with a series of rights and lefts.  For the next several minutes, it's all Don Carson, but to the delight of these Calgary fans, the hometown boy turns the tide!  Bruce catches Carson with a series of standing dropkicks, and Carson staggers back into the corner, and slumps against the ropes.  Bruce comes in and monkey-flips Carson out of the corner and back into the middle of the ring.

Bruce hits Carson with another dropkick.  Carson goes down, and as he staggers back up, Bruce goes for another dropkick...but Carson backs away and Bruce misses, crashing to the mat.  Carson turns away from the referee, and appears to remove something from his boot.  Whatever it is, Carson has it in his hand and he nails Bruce Hart with a big right hand, knocking Bruce senseless!

Now Carson, as arrogant as ever, proceeds to place one foot on the chest of Bruce Hart!  The fans let Carson know how they feel about this, as a loud chorus of boos rain down from every corner of the Stampede Corral, but Carson doesn't care, he stands there, defiantly, an arrogant smirk on his face as the referee counts 1, 2, 3!

Carson is victorious, pinning Bruce Hart with one foot on his chest!

Whalen: "I can't believe that, Don Carson trying to humiliate Bruce Hart, pinning him with just one foot on Bruce's chest!  We'll talk with Don Carson when we come back."

After the break, Whalen joins Don Carson in the ring.

Whalen: "Don, it was obvious to anyone watching that match, that you had something in your hand when you hit Bruce Hart, he was out cold."

Carson looks shocked.

Carson: "Ed Whalen, how DARE you spread these slanderous lies about me!  I don't have any idea what you're talking about, I hit him with a forearm, that's all."

"I will say this, Whalen, I bet Bruce Hart feels pretty stupid now.  I heard he was going around, telling all his little friends that he was going to beat me, that he was going to humiliate me.  Well, things didn't end up quite like that, now did they?  I'd say HE was the one who got humiliated, he ended up flat on his back, lookin' up at the lights, just like every other wrestler that steps in the ring with me!  I guess the apple don't fall too far from the tree in this case, Bruce turned out to be a loser, just like his old man, Stuart Hart."

Whalen: "Well, Don, I don't think that you've seen the last of Bruce Hart, and talking about his father in that manner may not be a wise thing to do."

Carson: "I'm not going to waste any more time on Bruce Hart.  I was nice enough to give him a crack at the $1,000, even though I knew that he didn't have a chance of beating me, which I proved just a few minutes ago, so I won't be wasting any more time with him, Whalen, I've got other wrestlers lining up for a chance to win this money!"

Carson then leaves the ring.

Whalen: "Well fans, despite what Don Carson says, I don't think he's seen the last of Bruce Hart, I'm sure Bruce will be looking for a rematch with him.  But right here next week, Bruce will team up with his brother Keith to defend the International Tag Team Titles against Dr. Ken Ramey's team of the Interns."

"When we come back, Gerry Morrow will be in action against Ray Osborne."

Whalen: "We're back on Stampede Wrestling, and ready for our next match-up.  Gerry Morrow and Ray Osborne are in the ring, so let's go up there now for that match."

Gerry Morrow defeats Ray Osborne.
Morrow gains an early advantage, and keeps it throughout the match.  Late in the contest, Osborne turns things around, but it's short-lived, as Morrow catches him with a picture-perfect standing dropkick, leading to the pinfall victory.

After the match, Keith Franks comes out and joins Whalen in the ring.

Whalen: "Keith, last week you had a match with this mysterious masked man who had been showing up here for the past few weeks and getting involved in your business.  Let's take a look at the final moments of that match."

VTR - Last week on Stampede Wrestling
This match went back and forth throughout the entire contest.  Both men give it their all, but neither can put their opponent away.  Franks gains the upper hand late in the match, he connects with a piledriver, and goes for the cover, but at the count of 1, the bell rings and the match is declared a draw!

Afterwards, the masked man grabs Franks from behind and gives him a vicious neckbreaker.  With Franks on the mat, dazed, the masked man pulls off the mask, revealing…
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

GREG VALENTINE!!!

Whalen: "I can't believe it!  The masked man is Greg Valentine!  Greg, the son of the legendary Johnny Valentine, is one of the top wrestlers in the World, and he's here in Stampede!"

Valentine points at the North American Title belt that the referee hands to Franks, and says that Franks hasn’t seen the last of him!

END VTR

Whalen: "A little later on, we'll see the rematch as you put the title on the line against Greg Valentine."

Franks: "You know Ed, I had no idea that was Greg Valentine under that mask, but to be honest, it makes no difference to me.  When I won this title, I said I would be a fighting Champion, I think I've proven that by giving a title shot to anyone who wants one, whether they are Stampede regulars or not.  Greg Valentine will be no different, he wants a shot, he'll get one right here today, but he better be ready for the fight of his life!"

Whalen: "There's an added incentive for this match as well.  NWA World Heavyweight Champion Wahoo McDaniel will be in Calgary on November 30, and he will defend his title against the North American Champion."

Franks: "Ed, that would definitely be a great opportunity for me, to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title, but I don't want to get ahead of myself either, I've got to stay focused on Greg Valentine.  I know that Greg is going to do everything in his power to win the title tonight, but I'm confident that I can defeat him and leave the ring with the title."

Whalen: "Keith, thank you for talking with us, and best of luck to you in your match with Greg Valentine.  Fans, when we come back, we've got a HUGE tag team grudge match.  You definitely do not want to miss this one!"

After the break, Don Leo Jonathan and Mark Lewin join Whalen in the ring.

Whalen: "Mark, last week you returned to Stampede Wrestling, as the special referee for the match between Don Leo Jonathan and King Curtis Iaukea.  Let's take a look at what transpired in that match."

VTR - Last week on Stampede Wrestling
Special referee Mark Lewin has his hands full with this one.  In the end, Jonathan catches Iaukea with a picture-perfect dropkick, then covers him.  Lewin makes the three-count, giving Jonathan the victory.

Big Bad John yells at Lewin from ringside, accusing Lewin of making a fast count.  Lewin argues with him from inside the ring.

Suddenly, Curtis attacks Lewin from behind!

Whalen: "Oh my!  King Curtis Iaukea just attacked Mark Lewin from behind!  C'mon now, there's no need for this!"

Big Bad John motions to the back, and out comes Dr. Jerry Graham, Jr.  Graham and Big Bad John both jump into the ring.  Graham brawls with Don Leo Jonathan while Big Bad John helps Iaukea pummel Lewin!

Whalen: "Now we've got a two-on-one attack on Mark Lewin, who was the special referee for this match.  We need to put a stop to this!"

Jonathan gets the better of Graham, and knocks him out of the ring before helping Lewin fight off Iaukea and Big Bad John!

When the smoke clears, Jonathan and Lewin stand tall in the ring, calling on John to come back and fight some more!  John, Curtis and Graham leave the ringside area and head to the locker room.

END VTR

Whalen: "In just a few minutes, you two will square off with two members of Big Bad John's Army, King Curtis Iaukea and Jerry Graham."

Lewin: "Big Bad John, you and I, we've crossed paths many times in the past.  I know what you're all about, I wasn't the least bit surprised last week, when you and your men attacked me, I know that's how you do things.  John, you're days are numbered here in Stampede, pal, because Don Leo and myself, we're not going to rest until we've run you AND your goons right out of Canada!"

Jonathan: "That's right Mark.  I made a promise to all these fans that I would rid Stampede Wrestling of Big Bad John and his so-called "Army", and that's exactly what I intend to do!  Ed, I'm glad to have Mark as my partner tonight.  I've got a lot of respect for this man, and nobody knows Big Bad John and his goons better than Mark Lewin.  There's no one I'd rather have as my tag team partner for this match!"

The two men shake hands.

Whalen: "Fans, it looks like Mark Lewin and Don Leo Jonathan are prepared for this match, so let's get right to it."

Don Leo Jonathan & Mark Lewin defeat King Curtis Iaukea & Jerry Graham w/ Big Bad John.
This match turns into a wild, bloody brawl, right from the word go!  We see all four men brawl in the ring for most of the match, the referee certainly has his hands full trying to keep order in this wild grudge match!

Late in the match, Mark Lewin is a bloody mess, but despite being cut off from his corner, he continues to fight back against King Curtis and Jerry Graham.  The two men double-team Lewin in their corner, but Lewin manages to drop both of them with a clothesline, and makes a mad dash for his corner...he makes the tag!!!

WAIT A MINUTE!  Big Bad John is up on the ring apron, and he's got the referee's attention!  That SCOUNDREL!  The referee didn't see the tag, and tells Don Leo Jonathan to get back to his corner!  The fans voice their disapproval, as does Jonathan, but it's no use, the referee didn't see the tag, and he will not let Jonathan come in!

While Jonathan argues with the referee, Graham and Iaukea double-team Lewin again.  Lewin again turns the tide though, he just won't stay down!  Lewin takes Graham and Iaukea and slams their heads together, then makes the tag to Don Leo Jonathan, and this time the referee saw it.

Don Leo comes in and cleans house, he connects with a standing dropkick on Iaukea, which is quite a sight from a man his size.

The force of the dropkick sends King Curtis tumbling through the ropes and to the floor.  Don Leo Jonathan turns his attention to Jerry Graham!  After a series of lefts and rights, Graham is dazed, and Jonathan applies the Swinging Full Nelson!

Graham submits, and Don Leo Jonathan and Mark Lewin are victorious!

Whalen: "Fans, that was one of the wildest, most brutal tag team matches I've ever seen!  We've got to take a quick break, but when we come back, Greg Valentine challenges Keith Franks for the NWA North American Heavyweight Championship."

Whalen: "We're back, and ready for our feature bout as Keith Franks defends the North American Title against Greg Valentine, so let's go up to the ring."

NWA North American Heavyweight Title Match:
Greg Valentine (Challenger) defeats Keith Franks (Champion)
to win the title.

The match starts out slowly, there's a feeling-out process here, both men know what's riding on this match, and neither wants to make a mistake.  The momentum shifts back and forth early on.  Valentine gains the advantage several times throughout the match, but each time, Franks is able to turn things around.  It seems that for every hold or move that Valentine uses, Franks is able to counter it.

As this continues to happen, Valentine gets frustrated, and starts breaking the rules.  Valentine hits Franks with a low blow, and that stops the Champion dead in his tracks!

Valentine takes full advantage, and clips the knee of Franks.  With Franks on the mat, Valentine moves in for the kill, he immediately targets the knee, and spends the next few minutes working over that knee.

Late in the match, Franks tries to make a comeback, but he can barely stand on the injured knee, and Valentine is quick to kick the leg out from under Franks.  Valentine then drags the Champion out to the middle of the ring, and LOCKS ON THE FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK!!!

Things don't look good for Keith Franks!  He fights the pain for as long as he can, but there's nowhere for him to go, he's too far from the ropes, and doesn't have the strength to reverse the hold.  Finally, Keith Franks has no choice but to submit, giving Greg Valentine the win by submission.

GREG VALENTINE IS THE NEW NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION!!!

Whalen: "I'm still in shock over what we just saw!  Fans, we've got a NEW North American Champion in Greg Valentine.  That means it will be Valentine challenging Wahoo McDaniel for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on November 30 in Calgary."

"That about does it for another edition of Stampede Wrestling.  On next week's show, we'll see Bret Hart go one on one with Ray Osborne, Mark Lewin faces Jerry Graham in a singles match, and Don Leo Jonathan goes one on one with King Curtis Iaukea.  And, our big feature bout will see Dr. Ken Ramey's team of the Interns challenge Bruce and Keith Hart for the International Tag Team Titles."

WOW! What a feather it is in the cap of Greg Valentine to come into Stampede Wrestling and beat Keith Franks for the title. Wahoo better be careful.

Don Carson is shooting for the top by talking about Stu Hart after cheating against his son. Sweet!

I like the rivalry with Lewin and Iaukea. That would put butts in the seats.

Nice win by Morrow.

The match next week between The Harts and The Interns next week is must see TV.

Great job bringing Stampede back, Chito.
