More on Johnny Hunter

This is a card I attended in Mount Airy,NC during 1974. The photos from the matches were shot for the newspaper by a good friend of mine, Homer Bryant. Homer owned his own studio and also did work for the paper.
 

 

 
Johnny Hunter- East Coast Heavyweight Champion
 

 

 

 
Mike Wray (Mount Airy Policeman) versus Johnny Hunter
 

 
The Texas Menace versus Red Rogers. (I believe the Texas Menace may have been Johnny Hunter under the mask but not absolutely certain.)
 
Lynchburg, VA Police Officer, Bobby Williams, who had worked for Jim Crockett Promotions earlier in the seventies was scheduled to be in the main event. Doug Hawkins took his place after wrestling "Bruiser" Otis Sprouse earlier on the card.

Otis Sprouse versus Doug Hawkins. Sprouse is the one with the big grin.

Here is a photo that Scooter Lesley shared with me a couple of years ago. It comes from his collection of Gene Gordon photos. The Texas Menace is on the left and The Hornet is on the right. Any idea who the Hornet was?

Just a guess..................Hoss Stricklin worked for Johnny in those days......................CWH do have anything on Hoss??

i do not beleive that is my dad doug hawkins pictured.i think it is joe wilson . i might be wrong but dad had short stubby fingers. You are probably right Doug. When I got these at the library the other day all I had to go on was my memory and the pictures you see here. Do you have a photo of your Dad in his wrestling gear from that year that you could post here? Thanks.
