NWA Amarillo TV 11/11

NWA Amarillo TV 11/11/1977
(Taped 11/3/1977)

Paul Boesch and Steve Stack are at the interview area and welcome us to this week’s show, which will see Gino Hernandez, Masa Saito and Mr. Fuji team up in the main event against Dick Murdoch and two mystery partners. The first thing that they talk about is the shocking union last week between Gary Hart and Western States Champion Gino Hernandez and then they speak about the controversial victories that Porkchop Cash has scored over Rufus R. Jones recently. Cash then arrives at the desk and says that there is nothing controversial about the way that he wins matches and that later tonight at the Sports Arena, not only will he beat Rufus, but he’ll end his career and become the true “King of Wrestling.” Cash then tells the people that once he’s “The King,” there’s going to be some changes around here so they better enjoy things now because a change is coming.

In the 7 Minute Challenge, Mick McManus defeats Johnny Eagles after a running knee to the forehead at just over six minutes. Eagles fairs better than everyone before home, but even he could not defeat or even last the time limit against the “Bully of South London.” After the match, Joe Blanchard enters the ring and says that he received a special telegram from a wrestler who identifies himself as “Mr. TF” and that wrestler would like to take McManus up on his challenge right her next week on TV. McManus says he’s not impressed by anyone he’s faced so far and so he’ll take this one last challenge and when he defeats this “Mr. TF,” he’s going to take his money back to England and proclaim that the British athlete is superior to the American athlete in every way.

Paul Boesch interviews Playboy Gary Hart and his stable of Gino Hernandez, Mr. Fuji, and Masa Saito in the next segment. Once again, Hart warns Dory Funk Jr. that he’s bringing in a man who’s held one of the top belts in wrestling to take that NWA International Title very soon. Boesch then questions Hart about who Murdoch’s mystery partner’s could be and Hart says he knows Dory is wrestling in the next match so that means that he’s out so it must be the Western States Tag Team Champions Bobby Eaton and Paul Orndorff. Boesch then informs Hart then Eaton and Orndorff aren’t at the TV broadcast this week because of prior engagements, so they are not Murdoch’s tag team partners. Hart then says the interview’s over and goes to huddle with his men.

NWA International Heavyweight Champion Dory Funk Jr. defeats Tarzan Tyler after locking the veteran in the spinning toe hold and forcing the man to submit to the move. Funk looked to be at the top of his game again this week and was able to control the pace of the match. After the bell, Dory asked for the microphone and announced that on next week’s broadcast, he would have a special treat for all the fans of Amarillo wrestling.

WSW President Joe Blanchard is out next with “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch and Murdoch says that Hart and his men admittedly got the best of him this week. Murdoch says that when he heard that a six-man had been signed for this week, he wanted Eaton and Orndorff as his partners, but they couldn’t be here tonight and he understands that. So, he reached out to some personal friends of his to be here and team with him against Hart’s goons…NWA World Tag Team Champions Ted Dibiase & Harley Race! Race and Dibiase come out and shake hands with both Blanchard and Murdoch and Harley says that he has said some things in the past that may have been unkind, but they were in the heat of the battle. Race says he respects men like Joe Blanchard and Dick Murdoch, but he does not respect people like Gary Hart, who cheats to help his wrestlers win. It seems like they are waiting for Hart to come out and protest, but he never does, and this seems to show that he handles things differently than the hothead Bobby Davis did. Instead, the four men shake hands as the segment ends.

Super Destroyer II defeats Choi Sun by pinning him after coming off the second rope with a knee drop to the back of Sun’s head. SD II was not accompanied by his partner tonight and seemed even more vicious and mean than he usually is. After the match ended, SD II continued the assault, until the original Super Destroyer entered the ring and told his protégé to end the abuse. SD II stood face to face with his mentor and then walked past him and walked to the dressing room by himself. There are clearly problems between the two Super Destroyers.

Wild Bull Curry Sr. And Wild Bull Curry Jr. are interviewed by Steve Stack before the main event begins and Sr. says that he has unleashed his son on Amarillo to bring more terror to the territory he haunted in his career. Stack says that he’s heard that Curry has also been working on bring a tag team into the area as well and Curry says he won’t comment on it much, he’ll only say that this team will destroy everything in their way until there’s nothing left. Wild Bull Curry Sr. says that soon his monsters will overrun Amarillo and then take over the NWA!

Western States Champion Gino Hernandez, Masa Saito, & Mr. Fuji (w/ Playboy Gary Hart) fought to a DDQ with Dick Murdoch and the NWA World Tag Team Champions Harley Race & Ted Dibiase. This one was a wild one right from the beginning and never really got under any kind of control. Hart kept his composure throughout the match and even picked his shots where he got physically involved and whacked Murdoch a few times while the referee wasn’t looking. In the final moments, all six men got in the ring and nobody followed the official’s instructions so he had to throw the match out. Eventually, Joe Blanchard had to lead practically the entire locker-room of wrestlers and officials out to break up the brawl and separate the two sides. In all the chaos, Paul Boesch and Steve Stack have to wrap up the show and the remind us of the big card tonight in Amarillo at the Sports Arena. We’ll see you back here next week for more Amarillo TV!

Wow! Murdoch, DiBiase, and Race stood toe-to-toe with Hart's men. Great bout.

"Mr. TF"? I smell a double cross ranch beating.

The Super D's certainly have trouble in their camp. Wonder how this will play out.

Great TV.
