Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong, also known as the Young Pistols after a heel turn, I think.

The name was changed from The Southern Boys to the Young Pistols before the heel turn. The reason for the name change was the company felt "The Southern Boys" name sounded to regional.

You're right, I stand corrected.  Funny thing is, whenever they cut an interview, they sure sounded regional to me lol.

The best match the Southern Boys ever wrestled was the U.S. Tag Team Title Match vs. the Midnight Express at Great American Bash '90: "New Revolution"

Yeah but really the Southern Boys weren't even from the south. They were from Green Bay, Wisconsin, just ask Michael P.S. Hayes.   LOL

I thought they had a ranch in Cheyenne, Wyoming Grin

Which I never understood that. Did they move to a ranch together. I remember they were originally billed in localized house show promos as "The Young Guns" This was during the height of popularity for the western movies with Emilio Estevez. Shortly after that, and before they ever debuted on TV with the gimmick local promos were changed to "the Young Pistols." I guess 20th Century Fox didn't like their copyrighted name making somebody else some cash so they stopped it before it got going.

I believe their first televised appearance with the new team names was at Wrestle War 91. They just came out to wrestle Rip Morgan and Jack Victory with new outfits,a  new team name,  and a new announced hometown
