AWA on ESPN Classics

Starting Wed. 2/27, ESPN Classics will begin airing AWA shows at 1AM.  Probably the Showboat casino shows....

I gotta say, I never saw much AWA in my day, being a real youngster on the Northeast side of things, but these shows are excellent to watch. I've become a big fan of Colonel DeBeers, and an even bigger fan of Sherri Martels.

I couldn't believe they (DeBeers and Hall) had a feud based around an angle of whether or not Scott Hall was on anabolic steroids or not... watching that in today's world of wrestling was surreal to see... good stuff though!

I've actually been enjoying these shows, too!  Seeing a young Shawn Michaels, the tag team of Curt Hennig and Scott Hall (or was that Harry Reems?  Serious porn 'stache going on there, Scott!  Shocked)

Some of my favorites have been seeing Brody, Sgt. Slaughter, Buddy Rose, and some of the older school guys.  Shoot, I even think Crusher Blackwell's damn entertaining!  Big guy hitting a standing drop kick.... hilarious!

And of course Larry Z. just being Larry!!!

i was able to catch the remainder of the show, and man did it bring back memories, but it was sad to see some of the guys as my wife and i and my 20 year old son who had never seen alot of them at all that has already passed away before there time.   sure wished i could get wwe 24/7 or espn classics!!!! sounds like i need to get a dish????

I just found that ESPN Classics also shows UWF Wrestling Sunday mornings from 7:00-8:00am. (Central Time)
These are 2 shows at a ½ each.

Cowboy Bob Orton is actually a "Good Guy" in this one.

Shoot... I'm gonna need a bigger drive in my DVR!!!  Cheesy

Gotta get that on the schedule.

Actually, looks like it's on BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY mornings! (http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnGuide).  Now, they might be showing the same shows, I don't know.  But I'll find out this weekend!!!

Does anyone know anything about Tommy Jammer??  I saw him on a recent AWA show on ESPN Classics.  He must have been a short timer in the business.

Many things I had forgotten after watching the AWA Classics on ESPN; I had forgotten that John Nord and Scott Norton had teamed as the "Lumberjacks".... Eric Bischoff should have stayed a commentator/ interviewer. He was good at it then. I didn't know that D.J. Peterson had died in a motorcycle accident. Larry Zbyszko was a heck of an interview, and a great heel champion. Must start recording these great pieces of history.
