Big Time Wrestling – WrestleFest 2008
Mar 5th, 2008, 12:41am

This past weekend I drove 4 hours from Bakersfield to be apart of Big Time Wrestling’s WresteFest 2008 and I have to say it was well worth the trip.  Kirk White and everybody associated with BTW did a great job with the show even with a handful of cancellations that included Jimmy Hart, Greg Valentine, and Traci Brooks.  I can honestly say one of the main reasons I came to this event was to meet Jimmy Hart, but even with his no show, I had a great time.

I know it is hard to replace no shows, but Big Time Wrestling was able to replace Jimmy Hart and move RVD into Jimmy’s VIP spot.  Fans seemed to be ok with this and so did RVD.  RVD, like all of the wrestlers seemed genially happy to be at the event to sign autographs and take pictures.

The autograph sessions moved smoothly and everybody appeared to get what they paid for.  As a matter of fact, I do not believe I saw one unhappy person during my time at the show.  I did see one person arrive late to the Bret Hart signing and in an effort to make sure the fan did not miss out, BTW associates got Bret to come back out and sign for the individual.  Way to go, BTW!

I have to say it is nice to see a successful wrestling fan fest take place in northern California especially after the now infamous, Wrestle Fan Fest of 2007.  Big Time Wrestling provided a quality family event where wrestlers and fans alike could have a nice time without the stress of worrying about being ripped off.  Big Time Wrestling and Kirk White should be commended on this event and I can’t wait for the next one.

Great to hear when an event runs well, especially when we always hear when they don't. It ran smoothly and people got what they paid for.

I was there too, and I forgot to mention that Bret Hart signed for about 3 hours I think, and there wasn't a single break in there, people were in line the whole time.  So he appeared to be a good choice (he's the main reason I decided to go).  The only bummer for me was that he signed the picture I bought in black, and the picture has a ton of black in it, so you can barely see his last name in the picture.  I don't really care all that much, it was still a good time.

I'd guess around 150-200.  It was really easy to leave and get in as you wished, so I don't think everyone who bought tickets was there at the same time.  Whatever the number, I would guess it was profitable for those putting it on.  That's just for the convention, I didn't go to the matches.

I missed the matches, too, but heard they were good.

It was good catching up with our west coast fanfest friends David, Tony, Jeff and Juan, seeing my long lost friends the Van Dams and meeting some folks that I'd heard about for years but never met (Allan Bolte, Dr. Mike Lano.)

Thanks to Kirk White and BTW for having us. My first trip to the Bay area and had an incredible sunny Sunday afternoon on the bay. Took almost 700 pics on the bay, mostly of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. It was nice being a tourist for a day.

I was there as well.  Drove up from Hollywood.  I had a great time and met everyone I wanted to meet.  It was really put together well.

I missed the matches, too.  I had to be back in LA to go to a work meeting in El Segundo on Sunday morning.
