Just received word that my good friend Playboy Gary Hart passed away Sunday afternoon March 16th, 2008.  I am too dumbstruck to elaborate.  RIP my good friend, I will miss you greatly.  SOH.

Wow, Hump! I am stunned. My heart goes out to you and Playboy's family.

Thank you for introducing me to Gary Hart! I'd known him personally for less than four years, but I think you know he and I clicked immediately. What a treasure. And he thought the world of you, and you know that. Gosh, we lost a very special person today. This is very sad.

The photo below is from our 2007 Hall of Heroes banquet and awards ceremony. Hart honored his former team Rip Hawk and Swede Hanson last August at the NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, NC.

I am sitting here shocked and saddened to read this.   There are few true gentlemen in the business, present company included along with J.J.Dillon, and I will truly miss Mr. Gary Hart.

Hump, I am shocked! I just saw Gary Hart on Saturday at the World Class reunion meet and greet in Allentown P.A. All was fine with him as he signed autographs took photos and participated in the Q+A session. I am truly stunned by reading this. Gary Hart you will be missed by us all.

Wow, stunning news. It just goes to show how fragile life can be sometimes. One day, Gary Hart is signing autographs at a fan convention; the next he's gone.

Sir Oliver, I feel for your loss along with that of Gary's family.

RIP, Gary. You will be missed.

I got the call around 11 A.M this morning after I was on my way home from work. I was and still am in complete shock to lose such a good human being in Gary Hart. My thoughts and prayers go out to all his friends and family at this time. Gary was a staple at these Fanfests and it was always a honor to have him there. It always made the weekend special. One of the nicest guys I have met at these deals. I was so looking forward to seeing him again in Charlotte this year.

RIP Gary Hart.

sometimes, it just doesn't pay to answer the phone. a little while ago i was being called to be told of this tragic loss.
Gary was my personal favourite wrestling manager. i grew up with him as the incredible duo of Hart and the Great Kabuki. he went on to Texas for awhile before returning to MACW...he was the best, to me.

on a personal note...Hump, i feel for you. real friends are hard to come by and i know you guys were close. i thank you again for introducing Gary to me back in '05 in Charlotte and the time we all spent together with other friends.
please, take care of yourself and give my best regards to other friends and the  family.

Just some sad sad news!! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends!  And on a side note...I want to thank Greg for having Gary at last year's fanfest! I had the opportunity to have my pic taken with him and chat with him a bit! He was super nice and was so genuine when talking to him!  Man...this is why we have to really appreciate and respect these legends when we are fortunate enough to meet them! You just never know what life is gonna bring us so it's best we cherish the good times and memories while we can!

This is sad news, and a real shock. I would echo the sentiments of my good friend Mr Yates in saying that Mr Hart was my all-time favourite manager, and through his comments over the years in various documentaries & Q&A's etc I came to have a great respect for the man as a human being, and have almost been brought to tears by his recollections of the great tragedy's & triumphs he experienced during his long colourful career in the wrestling business, and the humanity he displayed in those recollections. And although I only got to meet him briefly once, last year at Fanfest, I am thankful for that opportunity....

My thought & prayers are with Sir Oliver, and Gary's family & friends....

The Associated Press picked up the story. I have to say that surprised me a bit because the AP sometimes ignores wrestling, but I'm glad they did run this obituary. Gary deserved it.

If you haven't had a chance, I'd suggest watching the videos on WWE.com with comments from the wrestlers on Gary Hart, from Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Michael Hayes, Jerry Brisco and more. Great stuff. Very nice of WWE to do this.
