External Hard Drives?
May 13th, 2008, 6:35pm

For any of you that are familiar or have shopped for external hard drives, I need your help. I'd like to get some opinions on which brands/models are better and some of the things you may like/dislike about a particular one. This is an EXTERNAL hard drive only.

Thanks!

I have a Western Digital 160gig. Had it for like 2 years now, no problems at all. Just plug in the USB and it's ready to go. There's a lot of brands on the market now, you don't need one of those nifty micro models unless you wanna keep it in your pocket. The storage space is insane now also, I still have plenty of room on mine and I have a lot of audio, video and photos, plus back-ups of all of my software.
I don't run programs from it, I only use it as storage. I learned too many times the hard way to keep copies of every file.

Speaking of insane storage... here's on option (but you may have to hurry for the rebate).  750GB USB 2.0 and eSATA (future proof!) for $99

Seagates are great as well. If you have a Fry's near you, you can pick up a 500 GB EHD for $100 bucks...that holds quite a bit of storage, and they're EXTREMELY simple to use.

Are talking about the memory sticks?

I dont have a brand reccomendation, but STORAGE is the key. If you shop around Staples, Office Dept, etc etc you will find a good deal somewhere.
