It was actually made by Inmates in the Colorado Dept. of Corrections.

Interesting.  Any more to the story?  Why would inmates make a belt?

I will have one with me in Charlotte.  Buy me a beer and you can hold it and I will tell you the story.

Are you gonna have anyone sign the AWA Inmate?

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass Smiley

Its a hideous belt, but I think this story is fascinating.  There must be more to it.

Has anyone ever written a book about the stories behind the belts?  Someone should consider it, they'd make a fortune.

I've thought about it and a few people have suggested it, but with wrestling no longer being in a "boom" period, publishers probably aren't too willing to go with something like that. But I would also write about MMA belts to fill it out and hopefully cross promote it between MMA and wrestling fans.

Nope.  I won't have any Midwest leather belts signed.  If there were any AWA champs that wore it, I'd get a picture with them and the belt though.

Well, What's the point in bringing them then? Or is it a "hey look at me" kinda thing?

Just curious. Maybe I'll bring mine.

Having any belts signed usually takes away from their value.

We bring them so we can take photos with the previous champions holding OUR belt.

Also there is a bunch of us from belt dedicated forums. We always get together at these things and check out other people's collections, etc.
