Transporting Signed Belts
Aug 11th, 2008, 10:16am

Probably a dumb question, but better safe than sorry. I am bringing my big gold (Figures Inc) belt to fanfest to have Flair sign it, it was signed at a previous fanfest in silver shrpie. Since then it has been stored on a closet shelf. I have it out to pack and put it in the bag it came in to protect it. A friend asked me if that was a good idea to transport the belt that way. I don't think it is likely that the signatures already on it could be effected by it moving around inside the bag, but now it has got me paranoid. Have any of you who have signed belts ever had any problems carrying them around inside the belt bags that they come in?

I think everyone knows my feelings on signing belts. Wink

But some advice: Don't leave the belt in the bag for long periods of time. I have seen tons of Fig Inc belts that get a honeycomb pattern imprinted into the plates because they are rested on the bag for a while. This does not buff out with cleaning.

As for signatures, the ink should be dry by now so they shouldn't smudge unless some type of liquid gets in contact with it.
The new Fig Inc belts come with a piece of thin foam to protect the belts while in the bag.

If your bringing it on a plane, and your paranoid, buy some small bubblewrap at the dollar store, and put a layer in the belt bag as a good insurance policy.

Thanks for the advice Dan. I thought the signatures were fine, but when my friend saw that bag he said isn't that material going to mess it up & I got to thinking on it LOL. I like your idea about thin bubble wrap since my belt did not come with the foam. Much appreciated.
