IWA North American Title Question
Nov 1st, 2008, 7:50am

How come all through the time that the old IWA was in business. The IWA North American Title which was mostly held by Bulldog Brower or towards the end of the IWA Johnny Powers. Was always front and center of their promotion and the IWA World Title that Mil Mascaras held was treated like it was a secondary title. Anybody else notice this?

The reason BUlldog Brower held the belt for so long is that he actually owned the championship and the belt. That was an agreement with him and Pedro Martinez. Also when Powers bought out the IWA he took over the belt much to the displeasure fo Brower

From what I have heard & read Johnny Powers was a big jerk as a promoter booker wrestler. I mean the belt belongs to Brower and he takes it for himself Geez what an Ego. Maybe it was me his matches were all the same boring unless he was against Brower and he would lift him up but I cant ever remember Powers jobbing to Brower. Why did he have to call his version of the figure 4 leglock the power/powerrs lock man this guy was a piece of work and not too bright to hire Charlie Babb either.

I worked for IWA from 1975 to the end. I refed for them and worked for Ms Powers and yes he was difficult to work for. Also was there when Mr. Babb was there. The only time I can remember Powers going down to Brower was when he first came to the IWA. He let Brower knock him out on TV so he could complete some other committments before coming back to IWA.

Ms Powers had a very large ego!
