Super Destroyer in 1981
Feb 4th, 2009, 12:22pm

Just finished watching the Mid-Atlantic TV show on WWE 24/7.   Just awesome.

I'm wondering who was the Super Destroyer?    I'm pretty sure that the Grappler was Len Denton, but not sure on the Super D.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I always thought it was one of the Irwins. I thought it was Bill Irwin, but now I'm wondering if it was Scott -- if it was either one.

Scott Irwin was the Super Destroyer in Georgia. I believe the Super Destroyer you saw was probably Don Jardine, who was also The Spoiler

Yeah, Super Destroyer was in Mid-Atlantic in 1970s as Don Jardine. I still think the one in 1981 was Scott Irwin. When Jardine left in the mid to late 70s they came on TV and said he was unmasked and showed his photo on TV. Plus, I don't recall, but did Jardine ever do the superplex because Super D in '81 did and Irwin did.

All that said, I could be wrong.

Definately not Jardine...a little to fat to be Jardine....this Super Destroyer wore a Yellow mask with a black Star over one eye.    Scott Irwin or Bill Irwin I could believe...I'm going to watch it again, to see if I can see something to give me a better idea.

Looks like your right. At the link below they list Super D as being Scott Irwin

I definitely remember Super Destroyer doing the Superplex.  First time I had seen that and I thought it was awesome.  of course today, they kick out on a two count.  what crap.

If I'm not mistaken Irwins' Super D also worked in Texas with brother Bill Irwin they were unmasked in TX as Bill and Scott Irwin then returned to Georgia as "The Long Riders"
