Jobbing, did you see when Eddie Gilbert ran into Jerry Lawler with his car in the parking lot of the TV studio where they filmed the wrestling shows?  I haven't seen much Tennessee wrestling, but that was awesome.

hey everyone sorry it took so long but here it goes, my name is marty i live in new york city. i am 32 years old and have been a wrestling fan ever since i was about 5 years old watching it with my dad on saturdays. i was born in n.y.c so i was more into the wwf and awa as a kid but as the years went on and with the help of wrestling magazines and channel 68 i got introduced to world class, nwa and uwf. i was blown away with the four horseman and dusty  rhodes angles.

i came to fanfest last year for the first time as i only starting going to these types of conventions about 2 years ago and the first one i went to i was hooked. i really do think that greg does the best job i have ever seen someone do in running these events and because of that greg has another fan that will never miss any of his events again.

my favorite wrestlers growing up were ricky steamboat, roddy piper, paul orndoff, lex luger, ric flair, and my favorite of all time which greg can tell you is barry windham who i kept bugging greg on these boards to please bring in since before last year fanfest. gerg has made it come true for me this year and i want to say thank you greg very much.

while at fanfest i attend everything puts from the q and a, the hall of heros dinner, the matches and all the photo opps and autographs . i also do like hanging at the bar after the events and drinking while some of the wrestlers hang out in the lobby and bar.

so i will be coming this year on weds and leaving on monday afternoon and cant wait as it cant come soon enough

p.s. thanks greg again for bring barry windham in this year

I am macwfan1957, Johnny Blackwell.

I have been a wrestling since fan since 1963, when my Dad was transferred to Pope Air Force Base near Spring Lake, NC. When my family first arrived in Spring Lake, I found Howard's Variety Store for my comic books and WRAL-TV for my wrestling. The wrestling show was on Channel 5 from 5-6 PM. Roller Derby from 4-5. Another passion of mine, BTW. I loved those two hours every Saturday afternoon. As you can see from my avatar, I am a big Justice Society of America mark.

I am so old that I remember Nick Pond doing the TV show in Raleigh. Two interview sets during the TV tapings. Bob Caudle was at one of them. Went to the TV slots that didn't have house shows, I believe. My first heel turn was Matti Suzuki throwing salt in Johnny Wever's face and becoming the partner of Rock Hunter. My unabashed hero was the late Johnny Weaver. Last year at my first Fanfest, I had the honor of seeing Weaver inducted last year and sitting at the table and eating dinner with Rip Hawk. His picture at the table and with me in a photo-op is in a place of honor in the Man Cave (my den).

I graduated from Pine Forest High School in 1975. Spent many Monday nights at the Cumberland County Memorial Arena in Fayetteville with my buddy Tom Miller. Went to Appalachian State University from 1975-1980. Graduated and staterd teaching elementary school in 1980. Been doing it for 29 years and will retire at the end of the next school year. Grin. Have a wonderful love of my life in my wife of almost 25 years, Donna. Three sons. Ryan, 23, and twin boys, Brett and Andrew. Lived a parent's dream when my son graduated from UNC-Charlotte this past year.

Last year I met Bobby Yates and Mike Worrell, who were fantasy promoters with me at NWAClassics. I also had a chance to meet Ziggy R. Thrashe at the dinner table with Rip Hawk. Hope to see them again this year and make some new friends. Great stuff happens at Fanfest. Can't wait.

Jeremiah here. im from northern Kentucky, but just say Cincinnati, OH since its about 1.5 miles from my house.  it gives people a better location to identify with.

die-hard since i first saw Rocky Johnson & Tony Atlas vs the Samoans on my Great Grandma's tv set.  later saw Terry Taylor vs. Buddy Landel on the TBS 6:05 show and it carved 'NWA' into my dna forever.  as a kid, i'd listen to World Class Championship Wrestling broadcasts...see, the picture wouldnt tune in on my tv...just the sound.  i knew who guys were from the magazines, but didnt see it til years later.   i'm firmly on the NWA/terrorities side of the fence, as in WWF is and always will be "the enemy" style.

this my 3rd Fanfest in a row....each year exceeds my expectations.  while i've met most of the guys over the years, its just fun to travel back in time and kind of be a kid for a few days.  its a place where we all 'get it' and that's a fun place to live for a weekend.  you can say the names Buzz Sawyer or Dick Murdoch with a smile, and everyone understands.  and the Fanfests have provided some priceless memories... last year especially. wow, just thinking about it makes me smile huge.

a huge part of the weekend for me, is just catching up with one of my dearest friends, Mike, who lives a plane ride away. we get to hang out, reminisce about our ECW adventures, and just have a blast geeking out together.

my all-time favorite is Barry Windham.  still to this day have never seen anyone work like him.  needless to say, im psyched to see him added to the fest this year.  the Horsemen photo op is a "13 year-old Jeremiah" dream come true.  what an amazing opportunity.

while i've met Barry before, i was looking forward most to meeting Rocky King.  seems he's no longer scheduled, but hopefully that will change.   JCP was my 'golden era', so i enjoy meeting everyone from that time period.  someone find Denny Brown and Trent Knight!

i dont really have any rituals for Charlotte as to food, hangouts, etc.   just having fun with my friends and absorbing the love and appreciation of the weekend.  the Hall of Heroes is always mind-blowing, this year should be no exception.  oh, and i'll probably be the guy wearing a t-shirt of a band no one's ever heard of Smiley

Scott King Here,

Looking forward to my 3rd straight FanFest. Especially looking forward to finally meeting Austin Idol for the first time. Was raised on Championship Wrestling From Florida for the last 8 years of their existence. My first ever wrestling card was the Last Tangle in Tampa with Dusty Rhodes vs Harley Race going to a 60 minute draw in the hot Florida sun. My favorite angle was the Santa Claus angle with Kevin Sullivan & Dusty Rhodes @ the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg which brought about the start of the Midnight Rider with Dusty.

I am the High Chief SITTING STILL, a/k/a MCP, a/k/a Michael Hayden Elliott

I'm 27 years old from Oxford, England....now residing in London....and a staunch Libertarian

This will be my 4th Fanfest since first attending in 2005, & something like my eleventh U.S wrestling trip in the last 4 years. My first exposure to wrestling was at the age of 5 when my older brother located old Championship Wrestling from Georgia and later Continental (Alabama) tapes being run in the early hours of Monday morning on a local TV channel, and started taping them each week - and instantly I was hooked for life. The GA tapes being shown were from the period when Ole's post-Black Saturday GA show had some kind of promotional deal with Memphis, as it was Gordon Solie hosting studio wrestling, but with promo videos from Memphis stars w/Mid South Coliseum footage (Lawler, Hart's first family with Bundy) who presumably were scheduled to come in at some point.

Not long after I came across NWA Pro & Worldwide on an old pan-European cable sports channel called Screensport, right at the height of the classic Dusty/Horseman/MX/Rock N Roll/Roadwarriors period. The footage appeared to be several months behind as I recall weeks of Bash '87 era shows being shown around Christmas '87 (they could get away with this stuff in the pre-internet days)

Of course, this all changed everything....it was - and remains to be - like something from another planet....the crazy heat! The violent & bloody angles! The crazed emotion in Dusty & Flair promos....it had this weird vibe to it, with all these TV tapings from weird Southern towns I'd never heard of....what I'd later come to know as that regional 'Southern wrasslin' feel. This, along with a childhood exposure to early R.E.M, and my Mother's Elvis collection, started what has become a lifelong obsession with the American South & its history....including, especially, its food!

Also, through the Continental footage I came across AUSTIN IDOL, who just blew me away at a very young age....and Ilook forward to meeting this year in Charlotte

Of course, around this time WWF Wrestling Challenge took over the Monday block previously held by the Georgia & Alabama tapes, and for the reminder of my childhood I was happily caught up in the WWF hype machine, as NWA / WCW footage was only sporadically available until the early-mid '90s, by which point it wasn't the same at all....

Of course, what really ignited my lifelong obsession for classic Mid Atlantic wrestling, and Southern wrestling in general....was finding copies of the Lords Of The Ring & Bash '85 video tapes in my Uncle's video store in London. This would've been about 1990. The footage of Starrcade '83 & the World Class Parade Of Champions with the Flair/Kerry title change was just mind-blowing, and it was like forgotten world....the footage was so dated, even just 7-8 years after....culture & production values etc had moved on so much. But that all added to this special 'cosmic' vibe that NWA wrestling from this era had....and I continue to be obsessed by it to this day.

The Mid Atlantic Gateway really is exceptional in fostering these interests, and my natural inclination towards the wrestling history of the region, and it was through my being a regular visitor to the Gateway site that I came across Greg Price's Fanfest, which I was privileged enough to first attend in 2005, in an attempt to 'peel back the curtain' on a part of culture which has always been a great mystery and interest to me, and I've made some great lifelong friends & had some of the best times ever, as well as getting to meet some great legends. The Saturday matches in 2007 with the Midnights / RnR match are the closest I've ever come to experiencing what I call the 'vibe', that crazy NC wrestling experience that appears to be sadly lost 25 years in the ether, and which has drawn so much of us to gather in Charlotte for another year.

And for 4 days this August 'the vibe' will come alive again....

Anyways - I'm looking to 'get back in the game' this year after the torture of missing FLAIR, HAYES & JIMMY GARVIN last year due to some late arising work commitments   made me unable to attend....so come over and say high, and we'll get some BBQ or PRICE'S FRIED CHICKEN~!

I am Matt Stuart aka Garvinstomp!  I am 36 years old and I live in Jacksonville, NC.  My earliest memories of professional wrestling were watching it with my grandmother when she would babysit me in the late 1970s and very early 1980s when I still was very young.  My parents always have hated wrestling and never let me watch when I was young, so when I was at my grandmother's on Saturday night, I really enjoyed it.  My earliest memories are of Ric Flair, Tommy Rich, Harley Race, Ivan Koloff, etc.

I didn't start watching wrestling religiously until around 1985-86 when I was around 12-13.  The NWA was my favorite promotion over WWF, WCCW, UWF, AWA and virtually anyone else out there.  The first angles that really got my attention were the Best of 7 series between Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff and the taped fist matches between Ron Garvin and Tully Blanchard.

I have been to every fanfest since 2005.  I am part of the illustrious "first family" of fanfest.  I like to hang out with everyone at fanfest, but currently I am unable to drink.  I am looking forward to fanfest and the presence of the four horsemen.

My favorite wrestlers are Sting, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Nikita Koloff, Barry Windham, Lex Luger,  Dean Malenko, Ron Garvin, Undertaker, Midnight Express, Doom, Ricky Steamboat, among others.

Hi

My name's Graham

(If the screen name didn't give that away)

I will be celebrating my 28th b-day mere days before Fanfest. Yay, almost 30!

Been to every Fanfest except the Thanksgiving one in 2004. Love them all (especially the ones with drunk antics by talent and / or fans).

I started getting into wrestling in 1992. And I was hooked fast. Primarily WWF and WCW to start but I've since gotten into Crockett and several other promotions that are no longer with us (RIP). Why WWF and WCW? Because, as a child, I was attracted to bright colors and flashing lights. I'm a sucker for production value.

Currently, I run The History of WWE website which aims to document EVERY WWF, WCW, ECW, and Crockett (though only back to 83) show. In addition, I'm always on the lookout for event ads. I've had the site since 2002 and it's certainly a labor of love.

Very much looking forward to being back at the Hilton, having a few drinks with old friends, and picking up new items for my stash.

Hey guys.

This will be my first time attending one of the NWA Legends fan-fests, altough not my first trip to a convention.  Memories of San Francisco still smart.

I actually travel a bit to catch shows.  Goal of mine is to catch a show in every state, so thankfully there will be matches this coming weekend so I can make another notch.

I first became addicted to wrasslin' aroud 1976/77 when I moved to the Seattle area, although have been told that I watched occasionally before that.  Got hooked on the Portland scene right away (sorry Carolinas, we were better!)

Currently am working for a company that runs through the Tulalip / Marysville, Washington areas.  We just started doing video-blogs that can be found on youtube.  Currently we are in the exparemental stage with these, but if you would like to take a look, the latest is up here...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkZKCwz-ybQ

I personally wasn't to fond of how this one turned out, but you can find better episodes through the link.

Just got my hair cut a little shorter this week, but if you spot me this coming week, stop me and say hello.

Been meaning to post here for forever but kept putting it off.  My name is Dave Layne, from Richmond, VA.  Even though I'm 37 and grew up in on of Jim Crockett's main cities, I somehow managed to not discover wrestling until mid 1985.  Once I went to that first show at the coliseum I was hopelessly hooked.  I'm one of the guys you always see running around the ring with a camera during the wrestling matches.  Shot my first show 15 years ago this month courtesy Brian "Mark Curtis" Hildebrand during SMW Fanweek.  Then in Jan 1995 he let me shoot in Knoxville and hooked me up with Bill Apter to cover SMW until it closed later in the year.  This year I've been recruited by Robert Royal to help out at the Cornette's Collectibles Table.  Looking forward to Fanfest as it looks like the best one yet.  I've been to all of them but the November one and this one may blow them all away!
