MACW reunion on RAW........
Mar 23rd, 2009, 12:21pm

WOW, im amazed at the talent that the WWF(at the time) took from Mid-atlantic wrestling from around 80-83.  And they became big stars in the WWF.Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, St. Slaughter,Greg Valentine,Big John Stud,Iron Sheik, and later Ricky Streamboat. Anybody else think of any other wrestlers? Does anybody know how much the WWF was paying compared to the other territories? Back then

Don't leave out Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, The Barbarian, The War Lord, Big Bubba Rogers, Paul Orndorf and Terry Taylor.

And there's more...

But, they left when it was just WCW(NWA) and the WWF.

Where did they get all the extra money from to raid so much talent from so many territories and pay them so much more?

Mid-Atlantic was doing tremendous business in the late 70's and early 80's.  Blackjack Mulligan says that they drew more revenue than Vince or anyone else in that time period.  They may not have had such big cities to hold shows in, but Mid-Atlantic ran many more shows than WWWF and still had some very respectably sized arenas such as in Greensboro, Richmond, Charlotte, Raleigh, and went to those places WEEKLY rather than monthly which is how often Vince went to New York City, Philadelphia, or Washington D.C.

Let me rephrase what I said. "A lot more than the rest and less travel."
