Flair-Snuka feud memories
May 9th, 2009, 1:42pm

This was one of my many favorite fueds from the Mid Atlantic days. Their feud was well played out over a fair number of months. I was watching a DVD with some of their matches from that time period and I forgot what a hot fued those two had. And then, with Gene Anderson being thrown in the mix as Snuka's manager, it made for a great feud. I saw numerous matches between these two in Greenville and Spartanburg and all of them were great. What are some memories from those on this board.

I only saw one match between the two, in Greensboro in what turned out to be the set-up to the match where Flair regained the US title from Snuka. Incredible heat and Snuka was so hot as heel then. We were convinced that the title would change hands then but it did not. That would be the next Greensboro show which I did not attend. I loved Anderson as the manager; too, I always got into the Flair/Anderson family angles. After the finish which I think was a DQ on Snuka for Gene's interference, Ric did a vertical suplex on Gene, and Gene kept the sunglasses on and the cigar in his mouth through the whole thing until the big bump. For some reason, I'll never forget that.
