Jackie and Sonny Fargo

This match took place nearly a year before I discovered wrestling. I would have loved to have seen Jackie and Sonny working here as a team for Jim Crockett Promotions during 1960. This is from Danville, Virginia which was a Pete Apostolou show. Maybe Jackie Fargo will share some of his memories of working on the live Roanoke tv show when he comes to Charlotte in August.

Excellent! Let's see if we can dig up some more clippings of the Fargos in the Mid-Atlantic territory. With them going into the Hall of Heroes, I'd like to learn more about them as a team and who they wrestled here.

I agree with you about Frankie Caine there Bolo. How about Herb Gerwig being here in 1960 and coming back in 1973 as Killer Karl Kox? It has also been said that the guy who was wrestling here as "The Brute" in 1960 was the same guy who did a short stint here in 1973 as "Mr. Kleen".

Here is a couple of cards where George and Sandy Scott defended their World Tag Team Trophy against Sonny and Jackie Fargo during 1960. I would love to have video of these.

Great stuff. Thanks so much for posting. These matches happened almost 50 years ago and it great to have the opportunity to learn more about Sonny Fargo in particular, who I loved as a referee, and knew had been a wrestler but had no idea was a headliner here so long ago. I love this ongoing education! While Don and Jackie were the team in Memphis, it was Sonny and Jackie in the Mid-Atlantic territory and it is great to be exposed to some of this material.

Always glad to share any small pieces of history concerning Jim Crockett Promotions and the wrestlers who helped build it.
 
Greatbologuy posted an interesting article concerning Jackie Fargo on May 3. Jackie is teaming with Don Stevens to go against Mike Clancy and Ray Villmer in 1960 at Charlotte. Well, Don Stevens is one of the names that Don Fargo used over his career. There is an excellent chance that it was Don Fargo in that match wrestling as Don Stevens.
