NBA jerks around WWE and Raw
May 18th, 2009, 1:49pm

With the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Western Conference Finals now, the league has Game 4 of the series scheduled for next Monday night at the Pepsi Center in Denver. PROBLEM? WWE is booked for the arena that night with a live Raw. Due to TV contracts, NBA has to have the game that day, it would appear. No word yet on when or where Raw will be that day but it doesn't appear that it will be in the Mile High City that night.

If you're wondering, WWE is scheduled for Loveland, Co., that Sunday and Colorado Springs on Tuesday. Pepsi Center is booked for that Tuesday, too, so there goes a swap out with Colorado Springs for Raw and Smackdown.

I don't think I'd count WWE out just yet.

I'm not counting it out yet, but this is a real mess. The easiest solution would be for the NBA game to be held Sunday afternoon at the Pepsi Center. It's an open date in the arena schedule, even though that would mean Games 3 and 4 in the series would be held on back-to-back days. The game would be an afternoon affair because Cleveland and Orlando have the night game that night on TNT.

Problem is that the owner of the Pepsi Center is also the owner of the Nuggets.

There was talk that Raw would be moved across town to the Denver Coliseum, but the problem with that is that more tickets have been sold than the arena can hold. So that's not a solution, in all likelihood.

This story is getting national coverage on ESPN already.

What a mess this has been out here. All three Colorado shows got canceled. WWE is returning to Denver in August. Pepsi Center officials really screwed this up. Needless to say I don't give a rat's butt about the NBA playoffs. I didn't before anyway, but I really don't now.

Not that I'm a huge WWE fan, but I was planning on taking two teenagers to the event. Thankfully we still have TNA tickets for Cheyenne next weekend.
