Help Remembering An Angle Please!
May 21st, 2009, 10:23am

When I was a kid, my family was on vacation and we stayed in Richmond for a night.  It just so happened that they had what I'm pretty sure was Mid Atlantic Wrestling on, unless it was Georgia Championship Wrestling.

This was the first time I'd ever seen anything besides WWWF.  There was an angle at the end of the TV show where someone with very blonde hair, probably either Ric Flair or Greg Valentine or possibly even Austin Idol got hit in the ear with his attacker's shoe.  He was really selling the blow to his ear and as a kid I was really worried I'd just seen a wrestler been deafened by that shot to the ear with a street shoe.  The show ended with the blonde haired wrestler holding his ear and crying out in pain.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  If so do you know what year it was?  I'm guessing late 70's.  It could possibly have been as late as early 80's though.

If you were in Richmond, it was definitely Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling or World Wide Wrestling, depending on what time of day (Saturday) it was. Both were Crockett shows. Mid-Atlantic aired at 5pm and World Wide aired at 11:30pm. Georgia Championship Wrestling never aired in Richmond.

In the time frame you're speaking of, it was more than likely Austin Idol.

Thank you.  I didn't know that Georgia Championship Wrestling never aired in Richmond.  It had to have been the Mid Atlantic 5 PM show, because I remember finding that wrestling show on a little bit before me and my parents were going out for dinner.  It seemed so much more intense and exciting than any WWWF I had ever seen!
