If HHH Becomes 17 Time Champion...
May 31st, 2009, 4:19am

would you be upset?  I wouldn't put it past him to get 17 World Title runs before retiring just so he can say he was World Champion more times than Ric, but the real fans will know it doesn't really mean anything no matter how many World Title runs HHH ends up with.  I doubt that HHH could have been NWA Word Heavyweight Champion once if he were competing in the era with Harley, Terry, Dory Jr., Flair, Dusty and Brisco.

It won't matter because the titles are so watered down nowadays that they lack much importance.

I know.  Vince McMahon himself is even a former WWF World Champion!  It's pretty ridiculous.  Then over in WCW guys like Vince Russo and David Arquette were WCW World Heavyweight Champions.

HHH couldn't even hold Harley Race, Jack Brisco or Dory Funk Jr's jockstrap on his best day. Terra Rizing and Jean Paul Levesque...give me a break...the only thing that guy accomplished is having Ric Flair's nose stuck up his tail for the last 8 or 9 years...Yeh, in Pervland WWE, anyone can be a champ, I expect Hornswaggle to get a run with the World Title soon and then he'll lose it to Vickie Guerrero who in turn will lose it to Stephanie McMahon, who will lose to Mae Young who will then lose it to John Cena in a steel cage match...all setup for HHH to get his next WWE title, which none of them are world titles because they only defend it against their own roster...

LOL...now, to be honest, I wouldn't mind a run with Lillian. But yes, I could see her holding the title somewhere in the mix.

I first saw TNA back when they were having a PPV every Wednesday night, this was over 5 years ago and A.J. Styles was the most over wrestler they had.  He wasn't their champion but he had been their champion.  Now he's still not champion.  Maybe he has to wait until he's 40 to be champion again.  Their first mistake was having Jeff Jarrett hold the title for years, and then when he went away they only let former WWE guys or WCW guys be champion and ignored guys like Styles and Daniels.

It's not necessarily bad to have a champion over 40.  I'm sure that Harley Race was over 40 in his last NWA title reign, but it's the performance ability of the man that matters.  TNA doesn't push it's best performers.

Ok Russ you're right about champions over 40 I'm sure Race was over 40 too I know Flair was as was Rogers and Thesz for that matter But you can't compare their work ethic to those of those who've been TNA champion can you?

No you can't compare their work ethic or what they are able to perform in the ring.

If TNA had champions over 40 who still had the ability to perform at a high level and had a work ethic worthy of a champion I wouldn't mind their ages being over 40.

Unfortunately TNA is choosing guys who are over 40 and have lost their work ethic and ability to perform at a high level (some may never have performed at a very high level).  It seems their only criteria for choosing a champion is name recognition.  They say "Oh, this guy was famous before, let's make him champion" while they ignore their younger guys who are in their athletic primes of their careers like A,J. Styles and Christopher Daniels.
