Notes
- Knoxville was definitely the A Town here – the Poffo Family and Weingeroff were the only regular ICW guys to work these shows.
Semi-Main Events were almost always 2 out of 3 falls
Jeff Sword was either in the opening bout or in the Main Event against Savage on most cards during the month of January.
1/26/80 – Knoxville – Randy Savage/Superstar Berry O vs. Terry Gibbs and George Weingeroff special stips $1,000 to the team that wins the most falls in 30MTL
- the main singles title for the group the International Heavyweight Championship was originally the Atlantic Grand Prix Heavyweight Championship. I wonder if Emile Dupre knew anything about this. Joe “Dynamite” Banek, an old timer from the era just prior to Angelo Poffo, was the original champion. Leapin Lanny defeated Banek, phantom title change?, in San Francisco. Poffo then took the title to Canada where he was defeated by Randy Savage. ICW opened with Savage as champion.
- Ralph Williams worked as the simpleton Big Boy Williams in All-Star/ICW. His gimmick was that his parents house had burned down and BB’s teddy bear was all that had been saved. Apparently BB’s mental development stopped at this point as he entered wrestling as a simpleton, strong man. This sounds really similar to the original Steve Lawler’s gimmick. Williams was working in All-Star/ICW as the Mighty Yankee #2 at this point. He would later work for Geigel and Mulligan as the Animal.
- Terry Gibbs worked as Ron Garvin’s protégé’ Garvin was training Gibbs to become the new OMG.
- Ric McCord was listed as Rip McCord on several listings during January
