worst news possible.
i met Steve a few times in the past. he was a nice gentleman. great memories is what i will ALWAYS remember. thank you Doc!!!

RIP, Steve Williams. I had the good fortune of friending Steve in the last six months and writing an update on his health for The Denver Post back in May. I feared this day was coming soon as the cancer had returned this summer. A great, great person and a pleasure to have known. May he rest peacefully now.

RIP Dr Death ,  I had the pleasure a few years ago to see him at FF. It was an honor to chat with him and see him wrestle. He was a class act and one tough man. God Bless you Doc!

Back at the 2007 NWA Legends Fanfest, I watched "Dr. Death" Steve Williams get a huge standing ovation at the Saturday night matches when he faced Butch Reed and man it was loud as he was entering the ring by the famous entrance of "Love It Loud" by KISS. I met him the next morning as he did his Sunday service there for the convention and was a honor to meet him. He will be missed big time as he was one of the toughest and best wrestlers in the world. From a career that seen him go through Bill Watts' Mid South Wrestling to across the globe and become a legend in Japan teaming with Terry Gordy to making a good name for himself in WCW in the legendary feud with The Steiner Brothers. He went on to have brief but good stints in ECW and the WWE and should have been a top challenger for the titles there (I think he did face Raven in ECW for the title). He was a legend in Japan as a top singles star and will never be forgotten by all us here but mostly worldwide. Sorry he lost the fight to cancer as he rarely lost many fights overall. Hope you and Gordy amongst the other wrestling brotherhood that have left us so soon are all reunited in heaven. R.I.P "Dr. Death" Steve Williams.

I had the pleasure of knowing Doc for many many years. Wrestled against him and wrestled with him as a partner. Great professional. One tough but kind man. It was nice to see him again at several signing events.
 
Too sad but I know he is in a much better place today.

I know he is in a better place, but it makes you wonder why the good ones are almost always taken from us too soon. He was an incredible man that fought and overcame more than most of us could only dream of. He was without a doubt for my entire family the highlight of the 2007 fanfest weekend. I am so glad and honored that we had the opportunity to meet him and hear his story. The ovation he received at the matches that weekend had me in tears, just as the news of his passing does now. I'm sure he and Terry Gordy have already won the Tag Team Titles in heaven. Thanks for the memories, Doc, and may you rest in peace.  cry

One of the best to ever lace them up.   Totally loved his team with DiBiase and still to this day, rank them as one of the top teams in Wrestling.   Always enjoyed watching him in the ring, and I wish that I would of had the chance to meet him.
 
Rest In Peace Mr. Williams, you have certainly earned it.

Met him several times and he was a class act each and every time...Really loved his fans...One special memory for me was when I met him at the WrestleReunion 2 show in King of Prussia...It was his first match back after beating cancer the first time and he was told he would never wrestle again...They were taking pictures of the matches and the next day selling them to have signed...I bought one with him raising his arms in victory and told him how inspirational he was to me having recently lost a very close family member to cancer...He was very sincere and thanked me for sharing the information with him and signed the photo "Doc's Back" Steve Williams, 8/24/05...

It's my turn i see what words i can say about my big brother Dr Death Steve Williams i been  
knowing since summer of 1988 in NWA and Jim Crockett Promotions at Great American Bash in Balitmore
nice guy all around and he will be missed by all of us and i know he told me in the car back at fanfest 2007 on our way to airport he told he had an great time seeing in his fans,wrestlers been around true friends mostly and i spoke to him on the phone few times after that wanted come back again but it was up to GP make that vote and text messages him few times lately keep him update on JR Jim Ross and when i got news on his death from Cowboy Bill Watts by phone called i was upset i lost my big brother and he cancer free now he is with Terry "Bambam" Gordy wrestling tag teams with maybe against Owen Hart.Davey boy Smith in 6 man matches against Owen,Brian pillman and Davey Boy Smith with Doc partners of bam bam gordy and Scott bam bam bigelow

Wrestlers like Steve Dr Death Williams are why I enjoy watching pro wrestling in the first place.. just a real, legit tough style. Not too flashy, just real entertaining. I, too, got to meet Steve Williams at Fanfest '07 and it was definitely one of the highlights of the event for me. Dr Death and Bam Bam Gordy are deeply missed..
