Question re: CAC reunions
Apr 26th, 2010, 11:44am

I've never been to one...does anyone know if they are fan friendly or more just for the wrestlers?  Are autographs allowed? Smiley

I went to CAC last year. While the featured legegnds enjoy the weekend, I think it isn't half as good as Charlotte's Legends Fanfest. In Charlotte, you are there mostly with other wrestling fans while in Vegas for CAC, you have the gambling, the restaurants, etc competing, not to mention the shows on the strip. It is fun at first, but if you have ever been or are planning on going to CAC, I would suggest going to the PWHOF in New York instead since most of the same people go there after CAC.

It is just a very long week and if you aren't into cribbage or bowling, you won't enjoy it that much. They have nice displays and a couple vendors, but it is nothing compared to Charlotte. I'm not really comparing it to Charlotte, but being a convention goer, I've been to a lot and they just don't compare. If I were to go, this would have been the year, but unfortunately I went last year and I thought it wasn't that much fun.  The only real fun part was seeing a few of the legends you don't normally meet and seeing the wrestling matches the one night.

But if you ask me, it is more for the wrestlers than the fans. It is fan friendly, but with some you need to buy something in order to get an autograph. It is that way everywhere as they need to make a buck here and there, but for once I'd like to see them sign for nothing. This is why I'm suggesting the trip to New York for the PWHOF as they truly will sign for free if you ask and they are very fan friendly there. It is run by the same people as CAC.

strongbowfan,
I am on the Executive Board of the CAC. The CAC is geared more towards the workers of the business. However, fans are welcome just as much. We are strongly against using the word convention. As it is a reunion of the boys and girls that worked in the business. The seminars are offered to the present day indy stars along with any other CAC member.

As far as autographs go, there's plenty of time through out the reunion to get a autograph. After the nightly festivities, several of the workers hang out and sign autographs. I'm sure if you visit the "gimmick" tables and purchase something one would be more than happy to autograph it for you. The CAC does not allow someone to bring several photos of the same person and get them autographed. Most feel they will end up on eBay or somewhere else.

EVERYONE attending the reunion pays there own way. So if the workers are at the "gimmick tables" they are trying to recoup some of their cost to come to the reunion.

The PWHOF in N.Y. is NOT ran by the same people on the CAC board. we do work closely with them and encourage you to visit them as well. The CAC is the longest running organization that is classified as a non-profit organization, related to pro-wrestling. The CAC has done something right to last 45 years.

The NWALEGENDS FANFEST is one of the most talked about conventions in the U.S. It has a strong support base and in my opinion is one of the premier fanfest you could attend.
