Ending of RAW 6/7/10
Jun 9th, 2010, 12:11pm

Those that know me know that I despise Vince McMahon and what he did to professional wrestling.  I'm not talking about mere dslike; I loathe Vince McMahon.  I haven't bought or watched a WWE PPV since the Backlash PPV after the Wrestleminia where Benoit won the title.  I watch parts of RAW 2 or 3 times a month but rarely watch the whole show.  The only reason I keep up with the show at all is that while I hae Vince, I don't necessarily hate the wrestlers that work for him.  There are a few that I even like a lot.  So I watch to see them and to see if things will get better.

Monday night I tuned in a little after 9 PM, only to find out the show had started at 8 PM.  I hadn't watched the week before or been reading the wrestling news much so I didn't know they were having a 3 hour show.  I had made a point to watch it because Rampage Jackson was on it as a special guest and I wanted to see what he would do.  I was glad to see him get to do a few slams, but overall I found the episode of RAW to be very weak, including Rampage's acting, if you can call it that.  But I have to give credit where credit is due.

The ending of RAW where the show was "invaded" by NXT wrestlers was the best thing I have seen on WWE TV in many years.  I was amazed at how good it was.  I loved how there wasn't any announcing for the last  several minutes of the show and all you heard was the sounds of the wrestlers attacking Cena, Punk, and the rest of the people they attacked and then Danielson telling Cena something about Cena not being better than Danielson.  Seeing him spit in Cena's face was great fun and his kick to Cena's head looked brutal.  The whole attack looked surprisingly believable.  Even the attacks on the announcers and other non-wrestlers looked good. Much of the audience appeared to be absolutely shocked into silence which is the kind of reaction a situation like that should have on a wrestling audience.

I saw some people criticize the beatdown as not being realistic because "the whole WWE locker room didn't come out to save Cena and the rest."  Well, if they had read the number of wrestling biographies I have, they'd know that usually the main eventers are the last guys left in the locker room.  Wrestlers tend to leave once their matches are over and they've showered and changed into their clothes.  They often have planes to catch or long car trips to make and aren't going to just sit around marking out at the rest of the matches.  They do this for a living; they aren't going to just sit around and watch the matches to see who wins - they have other important things to do.  Terry Funk talked about how when he was NWA World Champion he usually couldn't get a ride with anyone by the time he'd finished his main event match because everyone in the locker room had left already by the time he got back.  So it would not be realistic to expect the whole WWE roster to still be there at the time the invasion took place.

Let's hope this is just the beginning of a continual increase in the quality of the WWE product and not just a fluke.

I think this is Spirit Squad 2010 , we might get a few stars out of it , they fired Daniel Bryan already for being too stiff with the ring announcer...

WWE has a policy in effect where the wrestlers can not leave until the show is over, so to the kids, it was very real. To all the internet wannabe bookers and armchair critics, it was unrealistic. To me, I tend to suspend disbelief when watching this type of angle.

There are rumors now that the firing is a work.  I believe this rumor is true. Notice that they said they fired "Daniel Bryan" - not his real name.  Also there tons of matches where wrestlers choke their opponents with ring ropes and have a 5 count to break the hold before they get disqualified, much less, fired!

Other people are saying it's because he spit on Cena.  But that can't be true because Vince spit on Bret Hart in a recent angle.

Anyway, WWE recently put in a request to trademark the phrase "The Network."  If you remember, The Network was The ECW angle that Paul Heyman made up in his disgust over TNN (their network) and TNN's refusal to let them show violence and we know how Vince loves to rip off Paul Heyman ideas.

So they could be trademarking "The Network" to have the NXT guys have a manager like The Network in ECW had Cyrus.  They could make an angle out of their being sick of PG rated wrestling and be using Danielson as their prime example of the type of thing they are sick of WWE doing and then have a feud between the NXT Network faction and Vince McMahon.

It would make sense that they attacked Cena because Cena is especially designed to appeal to kids and is especially popular with kids but hated by many adult fans who justifiably are sick of WWE constantly ramming Cena down our throats.  No matter how much Cena is booed they keep him on the top babyface position in the company.  Speaking of more mature fans, remember how Cena literally couldn't give his t-shirt away at the WWEECW PPV One Night Stand II?  That was hilarious.  The guy really thinks adults like him.  Hell, one of the biggest reasons the NXT beatdown was so popular was because Danielson spit in Cena's face and kicked him in the head!

If I'm wrong and the firing is a shoot because Danielson was too stiff, then HHH has to say goodbye to his beloved sledgehammer - a far more dangerous weapon than a belt! LOL!

From what I've been reading, it sounds more and more like this isn't a work, that they've actually let Danielson go.  Something about making an example of him.
