Coming all the way from Canada!

Hello everybody!
 
My name is Jeff and my girlfriend just got me my Christmas/Birthday present....because I've been begging her relentlessly since I missed this past years and wanted to make sure I got my ticket ASAP, so there's no surprise Xmas morning, but I don't give a damn, I'm going to Hotlanta!!!
 
I'll be flying down from Toronto(or out of Buffalo) and am so excited to finally get to go to a bigtime convention will so many stars. Looking at this past year, I'm ridiculously excited.  
 
I've never been anywhere in the US other than Florida and Chicago, and I'm really excited to visit the real south, I see there's a civil war museum and I'll be here for five days, so it should be a wicked time!
 
I'm a massive pro wrestling fan and have seen pretty much ever shoot and match out there and am really excited to hang out on these boards in anticipation of this weekend.

    Good for you!!!! Thats Great! Fanfest was my first as well and it spurred a great hobby! My wife booked it for me as well and it was super..Enjoy the photo-opps!.... Is she going with you? My wife and I had a great time hanging out at the bar  and she enjoyed holding my place in the 4 horseman line Cheesy!  Have fun, bring cash. Jackie

Nah, my girlfriend isn't coming, it's a really expensive trip and another plane ticket, meals etc isn't really worth her being bored to death all weekend. In the five years we've dated, I've shown her ALL of my favourite matches and aside from the Japanese strongstyle matches and bloody ECW stuff, she pretty much hates it because she thinks it's "fake".  She does love Terry Funk though!
 
When you say bring money, what are the types of things I'll need to pay for at the convention? I just want to have all my bases covered.

evening, welcome to fanfest i have been going since the very first one in january 04.  
money you will need is photo ops from greg price legends, and then you will need money for more photo ops from vendors. there might be some wrestling stuff like tights boots and then there all the dvds that vendors will have.and theres a raffle for the hall of heroes belt.which is real sweet.never ending fun and all sorts of items you cant live without ,but  i generally bring about 2700.00 and come home with enought for gas and food ,but just come down enjoy and if any problem greg price will help you out and theres so many of us ( fans) that will help you out .so bring money and enjoy also make sure you get the weekend dvd set so you can relive all the fun. im eddie cheslock past photographer of pwi,inside wrestling,the wrestler  see you in atlanta

Definitely plan on bringing at least $1000 walking around cash.That will cover your meals and alcohol bill as well as anything you thought you ordered but didnt...the rest will cover "impulse buying".There's going to be stuff you'll find at vendor tables that you'll probably say is a must have..and you'll shoot yourself if you didnt bring enough cash to cover.Im not saying you'll blow through the money but its better to be safe then sorry.There's TONS of stuff on those tables and personally i always find something i always wanted to get but didnt think would be there!

Sweet .. ANOTHER Canuck going down to the show !!!
I will be driving across the border to Buffalo or to Syracuse airport myself..
 
sooooo much cheaper then from Ottawa
 
I agree .. Bring at least $1000...that way you are covered if you spend it or not... also find out from your home bank what american banks they are hooked up with...That way if you need to use bank machine you wont be hit by huge fees...  I know my Scotiabank is in league with Bnak of America ... which was great in Charlotte as there was one right across the road...

$1000? Outside of hotels and vip tickets, I don't think I've spent that much from 08-10. I dont get every vendor and usually only get a few photo ops a year. If I was spending a grand a year I wouldnt have made it to any after 08. But to each his own.

$1000 should cover hotel costs, food, photo ops and everything else you can think of...
 
but again, dont spend it JUST to spend it... It is a nice safety net
 
I have done this 'fest for a lot less as well as a lot more
