Why in a promotion that is run by guys like Pat Patterson who understand the time tested ways of doing things, is Michael Cole allowed to break what is probably THE single most important rule for announcers:  Focus on trying to get the wrestlers over; put the spotlight on them and don't try to get yourself over"?  He clearly tries to get himself over.  He even has a special little booth for him to sit in separate from the other announcers!  He clearly tries to get himself over and it happens at the expense of the wrestlers, taking up time that could be used letting them wrestle or cut promos.  It gets to the point where I can't watch RAW because of the relentless focus on Cole.  I've never seen anything like it.

Wow I didn't know Patterson was gone.  In Chris Jericho's new book he describes Patterson's ability to put good matches together as on something of a genius level and credits Patterson for a great deal of WWE's success ever since Patterson began putting matches together.  If I remember correctly I think he said that of the various guys who put matches together, Patterson was the only guy who ever put The Rock's matches together.  I think Jericho said Blackjack Lanza also has or had a similar job as Patterson.  I'm only up to the very early 2000's in the book though, so Pat and even Lanza could be gone now.
