ONE THING?
Jul 28th, 2011, 1:13pm

There is a ton of special things to look forward to next week, such as the Hall of Heroes ceremony, the Roddy Piper Saturday night show, the Schultz/Mansfield discussion, the Hansen Q&A, being able to meet many rare and first time guests, the special Piper's Pit and Dog Collar photo ops, the live wrestling matches, etc.

Out of all of it, what is the ONE thing that you guys are looking forward to most? And you can't say "all of it" because that's too obvious  Wink

I think for me, it's a close call between listening to the induction speeches for Ted Turner and Gordon Solie at the HOH, or Piper's Saturday night show. I was lucky enough to see Piper perform his stand-up comedy show here in Denver a few months ago, and if it's going to be anything like that, then we're all in for a real treat. It was nothing but Piper cracking jokes and telling road stories for over an hour and I cant' wait for more.

How about you guys?

Lots of Alcohol  Grin

For me, the Hall of Heroes, hands down. I went to Wrestlemania and Hall of Fame when it was in Orlando a few years ago, but being 40ish and this event being more group like, it will be fun. I grew up on Championship Wrestling from Florida, Georgia Championship Wrestling and Bill Watts Mid South and with this years line up, it is a perfect fit.

For me it's meeting RVD. He's one of my all time favorites, even if he's not a NWA Legend he is still a wrestling legend in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the photo-op with RVD, Me and My 1 year old in his RVD shirt belt and figure.

Meeting Bobby Heenan.  "The Brain" is far and away my hero in the business and I never thought I'd get a chance to meet him.  With all the great names I've met, which include my 2 all time favorite wrestlers and several of my favorite managers, this is the only time I've been a little nervous, not knowing how I'm going to respond.

That aside....it's a tough call, but I'll go with the Hall of Heroes.  Last year was my first one and I was hooked.

For me, it's the Piper's Pit photo, hands down.  Hall of Heroes and Rowdy Friends are big, but nothing like actually getting a minute or two with the best Mic man in the business, ever.

Damn, how did I forget to mention Heenan?! He's top of my list this year. Don't be surprised if you find me in a sleeping bag, camped outside Tmart's table the night before Bobby's appearance.  Grin

Where to begin, RVD, Piper, Lawler?  But the biggest thing for me will be meeting Stomper and Garvin.  These two guys shaped my idea of wrestling.  My earliest memories are of Garvin, Stomper, Jos Leduc, and Gorgeous George Jr.  To be able to see Garvin and Stomper again after over 30 years is about more than my geek heart can stand.

For me it will be meeting Mr. Wrestling II and Killer Tim Brooks.
Both are two of my all time favorites and I have not yet had the opportunity to meet either of them.

For me?  Winning the Hall of Heroes Belt AGAIN, DUH!  Wink lol

On a serious tip though, besides all the incredible photo ops, Q&As, ceremonies, and shows, I'm really looking forward to seeing/hanging out with old friends as well as making new friends. It's such an incredible experience to be around so many people that have the same passion for something as you do.  The stories we will share and the interactions that we will have will make memories that will last a lifetime.  cry

I have to agree with this.  Honestly, I'm not normally a "people person."  I don't necessarily dislike most people I meet or anything, I just don't really connect with them or really have much in common with them.

My first year at Fanfest, I was too caught up in the whole thing to really talk to anyone.  Over the last two years, I've talked to more and more people, and this year I'm looking forward to perhaps making some more good friends.  It's refreshing to be around people who understand why I love this stuff as much as I do and can hold a conversation about it.   Plus, everybody I've interacted with at these things has just been good people.

I shouldn't be hard to spot.  I'll be the tall skinny guy with a flattop, mustache, and goatee wearing button up shirts and probably blue suede shoes.  If Bobby Heenan's on the clock, look for me nearby.

Got it preordered.

I actually used to have a similar hairstyle, but after all the stuff I put in it for about 2 years, it finally killed my hair and I got tired of all the work it took.

Well said. The same here.
I am usually a quiet person as well. Being in a place with everyone there having the same admiration and respect like I do will be a chance of a lifetime. I am really looking forward to meeting all the forum members as well. You can't miss me either. Flat top, walk with a limp and forced to wear some ugly shoes. Cool

For me it is meeting Piper, One of my all time favorites and I've been wanting to meet him for years. If you want to be more specific I'd say "All my Rowdy Friends" since whenever Hot Rod is given a live mic nothing but good can happen.

really simple for me... Stan Hansen is at the top of the list.  Roddy inducting Solie into HOH will be off the chain.  Looking forward to Piper and Valentine Photo op.

Honestly something will happen that I don't expect that will blow my mind, like last year Ricky Morton calling me a Jm Cornette  mark.  I am but it was cool that he called me by name.

While this is my first FF, I've been to simular non wrestling events. While getting to interact with folks with simular interests will be awesome, its a toss up between Stan Hansen and the Iron Sheik. As a bit of a true old school heel fan, these 2 always captured my attention for as long as I can remember. To finally meet them both will make my Fanfest a memory of a lifetime.

So much to choose from but if I have to pick the thing i'm most looking forward to it would have to be the PIPER PHOTO OPS... he is my second most favorite ever and the first heel I ever liked!
Greg made my wish of meeting BRUNO come true some years back  and this time he's done it again!
